There is a difference between on base ability and situational hitting ability. Varsho got a sac fly yesterday, has good overall power. I think a guy like Varsho is exactly who you would want in the 5th/6th spot for RBIs assuming your top hitters are getting on base.

So I suspect that our former OFs would have probably been an out at 3rd base or got caught in a run down on the bases with the ball hit to the 3rd base side. I also suspect they wouldn't have been on 2nd in the first place. I am also pretty sure that the ball hit to Varsho in LF wouldn't have been caught. So run prevention OF, SBs, and no extra outs on the basepaths. Those little things add up.

When you are not even sure who can be your 5th SP, that is not exciting depth IMO. I just think Ross is using some hyperbole in an area that he should be much more reserved. Use the Hyperbole for run prevention, base running, balanced attack etc,etc.. All for it and agree...

I remember not too long ago (yr or two) Richards was an extreme fly ball pitcher and had a high propensity for HR. That scared the s*** out of me when he came in late innings (I want to say his first full year with the team).
