Your on the road, you need to keep Romano until you have a lead. What if the game goes 13,14 innings? You just used one of three guys left in the pen including Romano. He would also have to pitch next inning if you like it or not. I don’t even know if/think Pearson was available.. -
The new rule since COVID, is that each team will start with a runner on 2b in extra innings. The runner is determined by who made the last out for each team in the previous inning. So, Kirk made the last out for the Jays in the 9th, he had to go to 2b. 99% of the time you would pinch run for him. The Jays had already used everyone on their bench except Brandon Belt. He is also pretty slow but might also have some injury concerns. In addition, if you PR for Kirk then you lose your DH. Jansen was DHng. So Jansen would go to catcher and we would have to use a pitcher to hit if the game was still tied. In the past we had some pitchers who were more athletic.. However, the most likely option was Kikuchi and he is a SP and was not warmed up... To have an SP with our lack of depth get hurt on the base paths would be a huge hit to the long term team prospects. So, I guess the coaching staff made the decision to stick with Kirk was the least worst option.

We have seen it happen earlier in the season when Kirk was hitting ahead of Varsho. Varhso hit a double and he had to hold up because Kirk was going station to station... Kirk is a like a square bowling ball..

I get it. However, in that particular situation, Varsho did his job and then the dude writes YOU SUCK!!! Fnn Bo was K,K,K and Varsho needed to move the runner over and he did, if anyone other than Kirk.. Then, he is one of the only base runners on the team who would score from 1st and make it look so easy.

You would think, but one of the key reasons the NL went to the DH was Multi million dollar pitchers getting injured on the base paths... I stated before the inning WTF are they going to do..?? I was trying to go through the list of pitchers....No win situation.

Some of you guys obviously know nothing about situational hitting, good outs vs bad outs, and have zero situational awareness about the roster situation.

The Blue Jays used Stroman when he was on the team as a PR. They had warmed up Kikuchi in a previous game... However, you get a starter twisting their ankle or jamming their shoulder in slide, you are pretty f***ed.

Your a moron! With a runner on 2b in a tie game with no out you want to hit the ball to the right side and move the runner over. Varsho did that. Kirk is slow as f*** and over slid and didn't even line his slide up with the bag...

So. ASSuming we can hold them here. It is an interesting question. Kirk would be the base runner at 2b.. We can't have that.. So do you lose the DH, put Lukes in for Kirk to run and Jansen catches? Or, Do you have Varsho catch and Lukes plays OF? EDIT: I didn't realize Lukes was already in the game.... Damn

Varsho wasn't in the line up today. However, there was a double to left center field that he probably would have got to. You don't think there are any other issues with this team other then Varsho?????

I think we have a good chance to get two runs against the pen. They have used their pen a lot in the past three days... We just need to keep the delta at 2.
