All this talk about Gurriels D. The conversation should be about Travis. His D really sucks and his hitting sucked last year also. Travis is a liability in the field. Gurriel will be fine.

My opinion on this is as follows: I think we will actually have a good team. We have a bunch of young guys who were better then the veteran talent we kept putting out there last year. They are hungry and there is competition for every spot just about. The SPs are hungry either to keep a spot or rebuild their value, and almost all have upside. The team will get a big shot of adrenaline when Vlad is called up and/or if someone like a Bichette, Biggio etc makes it up. Having said that, we will be a young team and young teams generally play with their emotions on their sleeves. I would really hate for a guy like Borucki to go out and bust his ass pitch 6 solid innings, the young guns play good D and build us a lead, only to have it all disappear because some has been relief guys blows it all away and doesn't even give the closer a chance. I think with this young team, those kind of losses will be very demoralizing more so then our teams of the past 4 years. I want to give new guys with upside a shot vs a guy we know sucks and will probably suck more after he has aged another year..

He was asking enough that Houston who knows and loves him best thought it was too much. To the point they traded for Diaz and gave up a potential SP.

Because he sucks and should only be even considered if a minor league deal..

I knew this was coming from someone. I personally don't like much from ESPN, so I tend to agree. However this goes to an overall problem I have with baseball analytics... All these different sites have different numbers/interpretations.. How can you put much stock into something with so many differing interpretations... Bonds 2 tool WAR was with steroids as you pointed out. Look at the 2018 list of top 25 WAR guys.. Of the position players in the top 10, most all are plus D. Look at JD Martinez vs Betts. The offensive numbers are not too different. Yes, but all those guys in the first category played plus D at their positions in their heyday as you point out. If he is in the second category then he is by no means the best prospect ever... So considering a tool is D, if he is not plus D, I just don't see how he could compete with just his bat against guys like noted in your first list. So, how many tools a guy has definitely reflects on WAR IMO. I just don't see how you could beat out your peers if they have similar or even a little less batting numbers but also have plus D and speed..

In this case BTS is right. No one needs to read an article to substantiate that Vlad is not a 5 tool player, not even 3 tool.. There is no way. Is he even better than Acuna.. arguably no, we will have to wait and see..

I was just triggered. French is not one of Toronto's top 3 languages, not even sure if top 4 or 5.. Don't like a projected starting lineup of Travis at 2b and Morales. Plus Biaginni and Barnes in the pen. We still have time though.. Those guys will drag us down.. Travis’s D is going to cost us, doubt he hits enough to make up for it.
