  1. Ahhh Beans... You cut your cut and paste... Are you working for CNN now...or too much Tequila esta noche? And then the part right after what you posted: However, paragraph 11 of the MLB’s Uniform Player’s Contract (UPC) provides: “11. This contract is subject to federal or state legislation, regulations, executive or other official orders or other governmental action, now or hereafter in effect respecting military, naval, air or other governmental service, which may directly or indirectly affect the Player, Club or League and subject also to the right of the Commissioner to suspend the operation of this contract during any national emergency during which Major League Baseball is not played.” (emphasis added) Thus, when President Trump declared a state of emergency on March 13, 2020 in connection with the COVID-19 pandemic, Commissioner Manfred effectively had the right to suspend immediately all player contracts, including any payment obligations of the clubs thereunder, indefinitely for the period of time during which the state of emergency was in effect and games were not being played.
  2. The agent, the hot one that we all want to bang: She stated to summarize, there were negotiations, we have a contract/CBA and tough s***, honor it. My point is frijoles, lot's of professions had contracts, unions, CBAs, this is Force Majeure and the CBA is out the window and not applicable IMO.
  3. Thirty thousand Boeing employees on Wednesday must start taking vacation or sick time, or apply for unemployment, after the region’s largest private employer decided Sunday to keep its Puget Sound plants closed indefinitely. These guys have a union, they have a CBA with a negotiated pay rate. They are NOT working, so now, they are one of the three above... All three of which are worse than a baseball player. If the players are only going to play 1/2 a season, with no fans, with taxi squads so each individual will actually probably be doing less work... Then it is only logical they would not get the same pay, regardless of the CBA... This is Force Majeure IMO..
  4. The Rhino was just revealed as Barry Zito on the Masked Singer. He made it to the final 4! I had no idea he could sing so well. He was robbed, they should have sent the Frog home and Barry should have been in the finals. I had no idea he could sing, and sing well. I was rooting for him when I only knew he was the Rhino. The judges thought it was Trace Adkins, Blake Shelton and Jason Alden, so he was in good company. Cy Young winner and damn good singer!
  5. I understand it is hypthetical. However, why TF! would baseball expand and if they are seriously thinking about it, stop now!!
  6. This f*** this site!! I don't have this problem on any other chat board!
  7. Is the Tweet between Jose Altuve and Aroldis Chapman real?? WoW LMAO!!
  8. I think they do. You sign a 10 yr contract and the guys sucks and can't hit over the Mendoza lime for 10 yrs.. Your risk. The player blows out their knee, year one... Owner assumes risk, or has to pay high premiums for insurance. Owners assume risk team sucks and no attendance or you are in an area where you might have a good team but low attendance. TV money is about the only guaranteed money. Players assume very little risk if they have a long term guaranteed contract. Even if you don't, $650K min salary USD. Arbiration will probably see a raise regardless if win or lose. FA's get millions for being a 6th inning reliever or mop up guy..
  9. I kinda sympathize with the owners on this one. There are plenty of people out there not getting anything from their employer because their industry shut down. The players will have an opportunity to work, and only half a day so to speak. There has to be an understanding that they can't just get paid the full salaries for half a year (season) of work in a non essential industry. I think PR wise this will look bad on players.. Regardless, figure something out and let's play ball ASAP!!
  10. Blue Jays Message Board on Scout? (Future Jays)
  11. Yea, because the Dome with 15,000 fans is a tomb.. Empty and if closed....Morbid.. In this day and age you would not even know the difference on TV and you have a guy like the old organ player who ques fan noise at the appropriate time.. I think the players would like the fan noise also, according to interviews I have seen...
  12. So, Ontario has about 14.5 Million people. Florida has over 21 million people. A very large % of that is over 65/elderly/most susceptible. Many more vulnerable the Ontario. Why could they play baseball in Florida, but Toronto couldn't make an exception for having games at Rogers Center without fans etc..? The Teams use charter flights and you can get permission to cross border etc. I don't see why Toronto would shoot itself in the foot? Or why the hurdles could not be overcome. I also see it as mental health for the citizens in lockdown in Canada. It is great benefit with just a few exceptions.. On another note.. I think MLB should use CGI fans on the broadcasts and pipe fan noise and cheers through the PAs during games.. Seriously..
  13. I am not happy with Grichuck as our starting CF for a number of reasons. Watch the 40 second mark or so of the video, "Moreland's clutch game". Same game had Brito and Grichuk in the OF... Barf... https://www.mlb.com/news/red-sox-2020-season-opening-day-roster-projection
  14. True, but he got Napoli by dumping Vernon Wells which was a magic act... So, I give him more leeway on that one..
  15. Don't agree. Think it should be the way it is.. Keep Tampa in our division and Miami and Tampa are East coast, not central. Why put East coast teams in central and take central teams and put in an Eastern Division?
  16. God that trade makes me mad... The only one I really criticized of AA. I thought he pulled off some great ones and some others I could see why he did it..
  17. I think we were all saying that Biggio for Bell might be somewhat fair. Not that I would do it. The only point of contention is the Biggio + for Bell... IMO for what it is worth, win now, win in 5 yrs, I am taking Biggio. Of course I only play a Fantasy baseball player on TV so what do I know. I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express though, I thought it helped before trades...
  18. How much do you want for that bag of dicks?
  19. Biggio will end up having OPB, slugging, SBs, Hits, and he has 30 HR potential. He is versatile and hits 2 at the moment behind Bichette.. (I think Biggio should leadoff, but anyway). If you would have said, Biggio for Bell, I still would have said no.. But that is maybe, maybe fair.. However, you said Biggio plus and that is when I metaphorically hung up the phone.
