    Rumors are Red Sox and Baltimore are talking to the Marlins about sending Benetendi and Santander respectively.. You know it will be pitching coming back.. We need to get in there ASAP and cock block them and get some of the Marlins pitching!!!

    We are now a hitter rich team. There are pitcher rich teams that need hitters. Blue Jays, meet the Marlins, Indians ,Pirates and Royals.

    I thought the question was, who has the the top offenses in baseball, or if we signed Brantley tomorrow. I didn't take the question to be who projects to have in the future or for age group etc. If we did that we need to include guys like Kelenic, JRod, Vaughn etc.. Not saying Vlad will not get there or that for a 21 yr old he is not decent. But he so far has not been someone that moves the needle overall to this point. The Jays have 4-5 players that are better hitters (so far) then Vlad.

    A lot of speculation that if the Jays do a deal for an SP from the Reds, it would include Moustakas coming back to play 3b and to eat some of his $$. Not a bad thing at all...

    Some guys on MLB radio are saying *9/10 Brantley goes to TO, the issue is only 2 yrs vs 3yrs.. Other guys saying 7/10... Regardless, seems high probability with only a an issue of years... FWIW *One of the guys supposedly has contacts in his agency..

    66th in wRC+.. Willy Adames had a higher wRC+ than Vlad. He will probably get there, but he is not an elite hitter yet, to consider when comparing elite offenses.

    It is difficult, but Miami has done it two years in a row. They are deep and need offense. Musgrove is not an old man. Indians want an OF and catcher and and still have a lot of pitching even after moving Clevinger and Carassco.. SD still has tons.. A guy like Morejon with no spot in the rotation..

    Good question Jim... I think Kendrick might be best cost vs reward. Tailion and a few more from the Pirates. I think Gray from the Reds might cost too much. Not interested in Gray from Colorado. I might try targeting a few younger just feet wet or near MLB ready the next tier down in orgs like Miami, KC, Cleveland, SD, Pirates.. I think Miami and KC have some surplus I like.. In other words, instead of using an LGR jr to get one SP, package him and get two or three lesser guys who are near MLB ready or have dipped their toes.

    I usually try and think about baseball to avoid this.. In this case, baseball is the cause..

    Not using projections, unless I am then adding Vaughn and guys like that to the equation. A lot of teams have guys that produced like Vlad did/has so far. We both forgot Atlanta, the Braves should be in the top teams conversation also.

    I didn't count Vlad, as so far he is name only. If Vlad becomes the guy we thought, then that changes the equation. As of now I was only considering. Teo, LGR, Bichette, Biggio, Springer and a hypothetical Brantley.

    In a 162 game season, Grichuk will be great for 60-80 games, the other half he sucks. That is my issue, his consistency or lack of. When he is on, he reduces his Ks and keeps the strike zone tight. When he sucks, he is Kng like a bastard. He does not play plus D. The good players all have slumps, but they are able to provide a more consistent product then just a streaky guy who's streaks inflate his numbers but is negative WAR when sucking 50% of the time.. IMO

    I think maybe top 5/6 Mets, Dodgers, San Diego, CWS and Yankees would be ahead or close to us IMO. Also, if we end up trading a Teo or LGR if we add Brantley, then no. We need to have all those guys.

    As to Biggio, I said he A) Has the speed I think he has the instincts to run good routes since he played WR in high school. I don't know how good he would be, I think he can def do it. We saw s*** D from guys we would expect to play good D in the playoffs.. I wouldn't expect gold glove from guys we don't expect. Rays baseball and the Rays vs Dodgers WS showed how important D is, and how deadly it is giving an extra out etc.. Not fair to our pitchers to have Vlad at 3B when none of our other IFs are anywhere near Gold Glove... Kills our pitchers..

    Vlad coming up from AAA didn't look great there, before fat Vlad and now "skinny" Vlad. Is he skinnier than when he came up from AAA, or just skinnier then fat Vlad.. Regardless.. I really don't want him at 3B...
