  1. Yeah if the Jays get this thing on track for 2021, Giles and Stroman are both young enough to fit with that timeline. People talk about 'buying pitching', but we need to remember that the Jays remain an unattractive landing spot for free agents (that f***er Kawi didn't help any there either:mad:).
  2. True but Stroman is 28 years old - just entering his prime. I just wonder if he will 'wear out' faster due to his small stature. It's like how does a little guy like that throw mid 90's same as guys 6+ inches taller. I tend to think he is just a unique specimen. I still agree with the extend him sentiment. I would like to get him for 5/$80M, but I suspect he won't go for that. I wonder if 5/$100M would do it.....
  3. I would say rule 1 is to go for the woman that totally 'does it for you' the most. Don't go for the girl that you think your friends will be most impressed by (superficially). There are many things besides 'conventional physical attractiveness' that play a role, and you need to follow your own impulses, regardless of what anyone else will think.
  4. Absolutely. He is our only good established starter and only 28 yo. I wish they could sign him to a mutually agreeable extension (5/$80M still seems reasonable to me but I suspect he expects more). Either way, it feels like Shatkins has little room for error on this one. ETA: interesting game tonight with Jays scoring 12 runs but with only 3 XBH (and only one of those being a HR). Just goes to show you what an unpredictable sport it is. I seem to recall the Jays having only 4 hits total but 3 runs on all solo HRs in one of the games in the recent Red Sox series.
  5. I am thinking actually lose 20-30 lb of fat and add 10 lb muscle, so that would make a noticeable difference
  6. No it will be with the Rays.
  7. Entering today: Thornton with ERA/FIP/xFIP of 4.85/4.41/4.73 in 19 GS, 94 ip Porcello with 5.33/4.53/5.20 in 18 GS, 99 ip But Porcello is making $21.1 M ! With his contract ending after this season he's lucky he already cashed in.
  8. So unless they can get at least one blue chip prospect in a trade, they should just keep him. If Atkins f***s that one up, it better be the end of him with the Jays.
  9. Problem is they LITERALLY have no one but Stroman (maybe Borucki who may be back soon) that is any good, and Stroman likely to be soon traded. And everyone at AAA sucks right now also.
  10. Totally, Guererro hit a bunch of balls that came up short in the final round, which he probably would have hit out if he had not tired himself out to get there. Alonso absolutely lucked out. Oh well, if he plays up to his abilities Guererro will get his millions soon enough.
  11. Sadly it seems not today . This makes yesterdays loss after blowing a 6-1 lead even more of a gut punch:(
  12. Yeah you can sometimes give off body language that is easily misinterpreted whcih can easily be the case here. Regardless, the guy is NOT getting the results, so that's what I care about.
  13. And it is a day ending in 'y', so what else is new
  14. Yeah now let's cash this one in boys!!
  15. What is it besides the fact he hired that scumbag as his agent - demeanor on the mound ? Stupid comments/throwing defense under the bus in post-game interviews?
  16. Oh looks like it was just for yesterday but Orioles had the day off so they and Jays are doing it today.
  17. nothing worse than runner at 3rd with 0 out and can't f***IN' drive him in!!
  18. 4th of July weekend - teams are wearing red/white/blue hats
  19. I would like to point out that this is the 1st GDT I have started, and we beat f***ing Chris Sale - YES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  20. Yes and 3 ER in 5 ip against that murders' row lineup is actually not too bad. Imagine if this guy pans out and all they gave up to get him was Loup.....
  21. You could see it in his face after that line drive went right to the outfielder - what a cruel game it is
  22. I knew that would f***in' happen - mods ? please merge ?
  23. Off to a nice start with the opener Phelps;)
  24. hello, anyone there ?
  25. WOW , Liam Hendriks is tied with Giles for 3rd most fWAR amongst relievers so far this season with 1.5....... ETA: Hendriks has an ERA of 1.03 BUT an xFIP of 4.20. Seems his differential between ERA and xFIP is an extreme outlier amongst the top relievers in 2019 to date.
