  1. At least he was not caught stealing 3rd with a 6 run lead.
  2. That was about as dumb as it gets on the bases.
  3. My memory might be screwing with me, but I cannot remember the Jays ever putting up 4 runs while Guasman was pitching.
  4. Yep, another day and the offense sucks. But this guy has an ERA over 10...so, what can you expect from that juggernaut offense? Good grief.
  5. Damn do I hope you are right! I would LOVE to see Chappy explode.
  6. NO, I never said that they would never get those numbers again. BUT, I am suggesting that it is NOT a given that all three will replicate those numbers THIS year. They may, but it also possible for many different reasons...many we cannot even predict, that they will not. All I am saying is that it is an 'assumption' that ALL three will replicate those numbers. Yes, if everything goes well, yes, they all may just replicate those numbers BUT we are assuming everything goes well.
  7. My only concern is that last season, Vladdy, Bo, Semien and Hernandez had career years. Semien is gone and it looks like he won't be able to reproduce those numbers anyways. But I think almost everything has to go right to assume that Vladdy, Bo and Hernandez will all put up the same numbers this year as they did last season. And that of course does not include that the Jays did not replace Semien with anyone who will be nearly as productive as he was last season. I really do not see how this team is going to lead the league in both slugging and OPS like it did last year.
  8. Yes in a league where scoring is down, the Jays were 20th yesterday. When you are below average in a league that is down in scoring runs, one cannot dismiss that the Jays have further problems than simply participating in a league wide phenomenon. IF the Jays were still positioned in the top five in runs scored as they were last year, than yes, the entire discussion could be dismissed by referring to the fact that runs are down league wide. BUT the Jays are below average in a league that is having difficulty scoring runs. Jays last season were #1 in slugging and #1 in OPS. Does anyone here really believe that this team this year is going to match those numbers? Jays are going to need improved D and improved pitching this season if they wish to put up a better win/loss record this year.
  9. Anyone hear anything official about Hernandez? Will he be in the lineup tonight?
  10. Montoyo is going to cost this team another win.
  11. Of course the offense is top 10. But I thought the offense last year was one of the scariest in the league. My point is that I do not think that this year's team will put up the same offensive numbers as last year's team. There was a lot of hype about the offense coming into this season. I just think that much of that hype is undeserved. There was a suggestion that this year's team would be better offensively than they were last year and I don't think they will be. Last year's team was first in the majors in BOTH SLG and OPS. Do you really think the Jays this year will be that productive?
  12. Jays are presently 20th in the league in runs per game. Can we now, at last talk about an actual slumping Jays squad without simply dismissing it by stating that runs are down across the league. Yes, they may be, but the Jays are 20th in that low scoring league. I really hope that Hernandez's return offers the much needed boost to this lineup. Right now, the Jays are producing at a rate that is below average across the league. We may have to come to terms with the fact that the Jays are no longer that powerhouse offense they were last year. The loss of Semien's production's last year I think will be felt. I really do not care what Semien is doing this year, but it is true that this year's squad is going to find it difficult to replace the numbers he put up last year. Vladdy, Bo and Hernandez had incredible offensive numbers last season, is it possible they do not replicate those numbers? Seems to me that everything has to go right for that to happen and the likelihood is rather slim. Kirk, Chapman, Espinal may find their way and become more consistent at the plate, but if they do not all become more consistent hitters, the bottom of the lineup will have holes. I actually think Gurriel will match his production from last year, he is a streaky batter and will find a way to produce much like he did last season. No one on the bench really seems to be a factor. In short, the team will suffer anytime there is an injury. We have seen it with Hernandez gone and sadly may see it again during the long season. I realize that having Springer in the lineup for an entire year is a HUGE advantage this season, but not sure that it can counter-balance all of the questions moving forward. I know it is early, I know!, but my expectations for this offense has dropped. I have come to terms with the fact that it will not produce like it did last year. Yes, it will be a very good offense but it will not be as productive as last year's team. On the positive side, I do think the defense has improved and hope that the pitching may also be improved. But the Jays will not be that team with the scariest lineup in baseball this year, they will have to win in different ways. Possibly this entire rant is triggered by watching too many damn games where the Jays have scored one or two runs but I do think maybe just maybe we need to dampen our expectations in regards to this offense. At least I am going to do it. I thought the Jays would have the best lineup in the American League, I no longer think that is the case. I hope they prove me wrong, but A LOT of things will have to go right for that to happen and I just don't see it all falling into place for the Jays way right now.
  13. Tired of EVERY f***ING NIGHT of an offense that sucks wind.
  14. I think Chapman will get going and well his glove is really nice. But do have to agree, right now trading Grichuk for Tapia looks to be a brutal trade....one that could haunt the Jays for some time.
  15. Hope that was a learning moment for Montoyo. Jays could well be ahead if he chooses speed over Kirk on the bases.
  16. Dial in Gurriel. Wait for your pitch and launch it!
