    I suspect peak deGrom likely featured the best combination of stuff and command in MLB history out of the rotation. It was like facing a top shelf closer except out of the rotation. I wasn't surprised that he wasn't able to remain healthy given the stresses that throwing that hard would have created on his body.

    Maybe although that would depend on how he finishes the season offensively. His last few months are rough as he's struggled to an 87 wRC+, but I do have confidence he'll reverse his fortunes at the plate eventually.

    Little certainly didn't do himself any favors with his command but his outing could have turned out a lot differently had the defense turned the weakly hit ground balls he induced into outs.

    France has actually been hitting pretty well over the last month with a 137 wRC+, albeit with no home run power. He presents an interesting project hitter for the coaching staff, but one that I ultimately would have preferred to be given a shot in spring training to earn a spot vs the middle of a pennant race. Aside from mystery pickup Buddy Kennedy he'll almost certainly be the least deserving guy to stick around once Springer and Gimenez are ready to return, and it wouldn't surprise me if Loperfido ends up being sent back to Buffalo for a few weeks as more of an asset management type of move.

    I think that both of Donaldson and Bautista had similar lengths for their respective peaks, with 6 peak years for each. Donaldson had an injury plagued season that was mixed in with his peak years that brought down the averages a bit over a total of 7 years. Bautista's peak saw him produce 156 wRC+/33.2 FWAR over 828 games. Donaldson's peak (including the injury plagued 2018 season) saw him produce 143 wRC+/39.6 FWAR over 949 games.

    It's a shame we only got to see that group together for a handful of seasons.

    I was a huge fan of the bad boy duo of Josh Donaldson and Jose Bautista. I'll go with Bautista as he was a franchise icon due to spending more time with the club, but the MVP season of Donaldson is probably my favorite single player season of all time.

    I think Buck has been slowly embracing advanced statistics more and more in recent seasons. The old school catchers all universally abhor catchers catching on one knee despite the fact that it's been shown to actually reduce passed balls/wild pitches and may help to prolong the careers of catchers due to much less wear and tear on their hips and knees.

    The Blue Jays were still MLB's highest scoring team since May 1 even before the Rockies series. Vlad and Bo are finally both on heaters and with Varsho infusing a ton of power into the lineup the offensive explosion became possible.

    Man you've been a giant wet blanket for several years now, so you deserve every bit of s*** that you get as you fully earned it. Even now it's glass full at best with you with snide comments about the Jays trade deadline stating that the players they got aren't any good and if they had better prospects they could have added good players.

    This is 3 ace level starts for Gausman in his last 4 outings. I'm hopeful that he's found his game for the stretch run as the top of the rotation version of Gausman is a game changer.

    You must have been living under a rock this season if you don't think this team has faced a pile of adversity and has only enjoyed good fortune. This team has overcome the following on their way to an AL best record: - Giminez missing most of the season due to various injuries - Varsho missing most of the season due to various injuries - All of Vlad, Bo, Kirk, Clement and Santander getting off to poor starts with the bat - Santander getting off to a horrible start and then blowing out his shoulder - Francis turning into a turd and Scherzer missing most of the first half - Swanson and Green turning into pumpkins, Garcia and Sandlin missing huge chunks of time due to injury It's been a huge testament to the organizational depth that this team has continued rolling along despite missing so many key regulars throughout the season. In fact the team hasn't been at full strength at any point of the regular season.

    The Blue Jays are positively guaranteed to lose this game because France is in the starting lineup instead of Schneider. Who is Ross a puppet of now? Based on the general tenor of your latest incoherent rant I'm guessing you should be implying that Schneider is the puppet and Ross is the puppet.

    I suspect he'll get the bulk of second base starts as the strong side of a platoon with Ernie.

    I believe once Gimenez returns that Ernie won't start to often against right handed pitching. After that I think Ernie will still play a lot but the club will try to get him more favorable matchups against right handed starters he has a chance to succeed against.

    If this is true then is it not conversely true that they are a good team to target for pitching acquisitions through trade?

    You could stand to learn the difference between constructive criticism and whining.

    I can only guess that they looked at the solid underlying numbers for France (.340 xwOBA on the season) and thought that he was a candidate for positive regression. A huge part of why he's played in both of the first two games is due to both of Kirk and Springer being unavailable due to being on the injured list with concussions, but of course you wouldn't consider this.
