  1. Biggio has been a solid offensive contributor for the last 3+ months vs Espinal who has been so bad he was a candidate to find himself optioned to the minors. This shouldn't be so hard for you to understand. Since he got his bat going Biggio has been the team's 10th highest WAR contributor as a bench player and has provided a 128 WRC+ against RHP off the bench. As a part time player there is nothing at all wrong with these types of contributions. I realize it's part of your troll persona to rag on Cavan Biggio 100% of the time no matter how he's actually performing at the time but it really shouldn't be that hard for you to give the guy a little credit when he's going well at the plate, much as been the case for the majority of this season.
  2. How about we go back to June of last season at which point Espinal stopped hitting and a trend that has continued right through this season as well. Since June 16 of last year Espinal has produced a 75 WRC+ and been worth a total of 0.2 WAR. You should really stop trying to defend the guy so much, he's legitimately been an awful baseball player for nearly 1.5 seasons now. Thankfully he's been contributing a bit of offense lately at a time where the Jays need all of the help they can get given the amount of regulars out of the lineup.
  3. I think Schneider is likely a legitimate above average bat. His primary weakness is already well known and he faces a majority of pitches up in the zone but he's continued to have a lot of success despite this. His pitch selection is already so good that he's ahead of the game compared to guys who chase out of the zone a ton.
  4. That was a smart decision on his part as who would want to be stuck in Oakland on a team friendly deal. That organization shows zero loyalty to their fans or players so I sure as hell wouldn't have done the opposite.
  5. This indicates Belt likely isn't available.
  6. Absolutely. I see little chance he'd accept it as he's a Boras client but if he's willing to take a qualifying offer it's a good outcome for the team.
  7. As long as he got his grade 10 all is good. I had grade 10 physics (this is actually true, I was in grade 10 while he was in grade 12) with Chad Kroeger but I at least managed to pass that class unlike Mr. Musician.
  8. Chapman has gone from a guy who looked like he was playing himself into a Boegarts level mega contract into a guy who the Jays might be able to afford. I just question whether retaining him would be a wise choice given how much he's struggled at the plate for 3/5 of the season. On a 1 year pillow deal I'd love to see the team go that route as this front office has a great track record on deals like this, but I still expect someone will be able to offer Chapman a massive 4 or 5 year deal despite how uneven his season has been.
  9. I think with his current bat Varsho is still likely a 3-4 outfielder if he spends all of his time in center field next season. A lot of the low FWAR value this season appears to be due to how poorly Varsho rates in left field according to Statcast which Fangraphs uses for their range values for outfield play. Baseball Reference uses DRS for it's defensive value and Varsho is sitting at 3.2 BWAR at the moment.
  10. Cheers dude, we are definitely at each others throats a lot this season with the frustrations this offense has put us through. I have no hard feelings either as I'm just here to share my opinions on a message board like everyone else. Here's to hoping the team continues to put up a bunch of runs for the rest of the season and makes the way into the playoffs on a high note.
  11. There's nothing passive in that post dummy, go back to your corner where you belong.
  12. I think there should be plenty of payroll space to add another quality player, but I'm not sure whether Arenado is the player they'd want to tie up this available payroll space. I worry a bit about him being squarely in the middle of his decline phase as he's having a pretty mediocre season compared to his typical standards. Aside from his stellar 2022 season his last 4 years have shown a player who is slowing down tremendously with the bat and really isn't someone I'd be comfortable with paying $30 million for another 4 seasons after this one.
  13. That's more than enough of the victim routine man as it's an obvious facade. You should go back an reread your recent posts, you are initiating all of the bad blood with the name calling and condescending nature while trying to portray yourself as an innocent victim. Take a look in the mirror, you are the poster who is bringing down the discussion with the bad behaviour in his posts. If you keep initiating drama of this nature it's going to keep coming back at you, take even a tiny shot at not starting fights with other posters and you won't keep finding yourself in these fights.
  14. You could attempt to stop with the constant name calling and see how that turns out for you. You are constantly in attack mode every time a poster disagrees with you, and this sort of behavior is exactly what is leading you into a steady series of arguments instead of reasonable discussion. Stop acting like a troll with the baiting posts and you won't be treated like a troll, it really shouldn't be rocket science.
  15. No way man the team should have overpaid Kyle Gibson and given him an offer he couldn't refuse so he signed with the Jays instead of the Orioles. After all his FIP is better than Bassitt's right now so who gives a f*** about all of Bassitt's other performance indicators being better.
  16. You have incredibly thin skin man. You act like people aren't allowed to disagree with you and as soon as someone dares to post an opinion that's different than yours you start with the name calling as your first resort. You should really learn to chill out if you actually want to discuss baseball as you claim. Like do you really need to compare people that generally like the front office cockroaches? That doesn't seem like the best way to portray yourself as someone looking for rational discussion when you immediately throw out insults of that nature.
  17. Eventually I could see Green joining Yimi as becoming another fireman option, but for the time being Garcia has done a tremendous job in the role. He's stranded 24 of 29 inherited runners this season, which is the third highest strand rate among all MLB relievers. Yimi seems to get himself into trouble a little more frequently than you would prefer but that doesn't detract from the excellent job he's done cleaning up other pitchers messes.
  18. I don't think Yimi deserves the type of consternation sent his way. Heading into last night's game with the A's he had a 3 month run where he was MLB's 15th most valuable reliever by FWAR effectively tied for 7th place with 1.0 FWAR. There is constant grousing about how he is the team's 8th best reliever where he had an extended stretch of games where he was basically tied as the 7th most valuable reliever in all of MLB. Talk about a massive disconnect between perception and reality.
  19. It's too bad the manager decided to throw a game away to upstage one of his players. It would really have hurt if the 2021 team missed the playoffs by a single game or something.
  20. Despite the higher RISP numbers the offense hasn't really improved that much overall since August 1 though. From start of the season until July 31 the offense was 14th overall in runs scored, since then it's moved all the way up to 13th overall in runs scored. The last few weeks the offensive numbers are pretty encouraging but at the same time the team has played against some pretty awful pitching staffs as well so it's easy to take the numbers with a grain of salt.
  21. If you only count what the pen has done since they arrived in Colorado (which you seem to be doing with Yimi) then you might not think the team has any good relievers.
  22. I simply don't think it would be good for Orelvis or the team to start his service clock early if he's not ready to succeed against major league pitching. The guy has nearly a 27% strikeout rate in AAA with a very small strike zone in play for half of the games.
  23. As frustrating as the Blue Jays season has been at least the Yankees season has been infinitely worse with an even higher payroll.
  24. I'm right there with you. I don't spend any time or effort worrying about how players act away from the field of play but Vlad needs to put in a better effort on the field. I couldn't believe how he stood there watching a low line drive type of hit like that and having it bounce off of the wall. I think Schneider is in a tough spot with regards to benching given how the team is missing three important regulars from the lineup (well at least two given how poorly Chapman has been hitting for the better part of the season) so it's hard to bench a regular player with how much the team has struggled to produce offense. I would certainly understand choosing to bench Vlad if that decision was made but at the same time if a manager chooses not to publicly discipline a player then that's his choice as well. Maybe Vlad would benefit from a bit of tough love but it's entirely possible we would respond badly as well. I was equally miffed with how Vlad slowed up on his way to the plate with the Schneider double as well as it was a very close play at second base and the run may not have counted if the out was recorded at second base. At least this time he wasn't doing a slow jog like was the case recently on another time he crossed the plate but enough is enough. f*** it, I think I just talked myself into getting on board with a Vlad benching due to the lack of hustle/give a f*** at times during games.
  25. Given what we've seen from the Jays lately they are far from a lock to reliably beat even the worst teams, but the Yankees have been pretty awful for several months now. I didn't realize how badly the Yankees have been struggling but they are a combined 23-33 from the start of July, go back to the start of June and their record is relatively better but still poor at 34-45 over nearly half a season of play.
