    Get outta here with those weaksauce insults man, I'm sure you can do better than lame Trudeau jokes. Show a little creativity instead of recycling other people's material. You know absolutely nothing about me aside from the fact I like to trade barbs with Connor (as does everyone else for that matter), and especially enjoy giving Mr. "some posters here" a taste of his own medicine. It's sweet that you've taken it upon yourself to white knight for Connor, I'm sure he's especially touched.

    All jokes aside is that what it costs to send a kid to university in the US nowadays? That's a crazy sum of money for a single year. On a semi related note my brother in-law sends both his kids to a pricey private school which costs over $20k a year per kid for grade school. That's a lot of dough by the time the kids are both finished school.

    What are you on about this time? Manoah had a single bad season in his professional career and is a single season removed from receiving Cy Young award votes. Soroka has pitched 45 innings COMBINED in the last 4 seasons. If Manoah shits the bed for another 3 full seasons then he'll be a great comparable, for now it's nowhere remotely close to the same situation.

    You seem to be missing how transformative signing a player like this would be for the franchise. It would instantly catapult the organization upwards in world wide popularity, would add an elite bat (best is MLB last season) to a lineup desperately in need of offensive firepower, make the team much more attractive as a destination for other potential free agent signings, and if Ohtani is able to fully bounce back after surgery adds a top of the rotation talent to the team as well.

    Jesus man the team has a legitimate opportunity to sign the greatest free agent in the history of the sport and you're still f***ing complaining. The Blue Jays would be surrounding Ohtani with a very good core of players, unlike the Angels who largely employed a stars and scrubs type of roster construction.

    Money for stadium renovations comes out of a completely separate fund than money to spend on roster related expenses.

    Maybe most baseball players don't make that, but Ohtani has left the realm of normal baseball players and entered the realm of cultural icon.

    If Ohtani chooses to sign with another team then it's fine to pivot to Soto at that point.

    Go check for yourself if you don't believe me. ESPN reported he earned at least $35 million in 2023 alone. Whether he earns $500 or $600 million on his next baseball deal he's likely to become a billionaire at some point in the future if his money is managed wisely.

    I've seen reports that Ohtani earned in the neighborhood of $40 million from endorsements alone last season, so I honestly doubt he's going out of his way to squeeze more money out of the Dodgers for his next deal. He's noted to be very frugal as well so a few extra million one way or another seems very unlikely to sway him one way or the other.

    And on top of that if he can't continue pitching it's not like he'd be immediately forced into becoming a full time DH only as he's a very good athlete who would likely be a great outfielder.

    The dude took a massive financial haircut to stay in Cleveland long term and has full no trade protection. I would wager it would be incredibly unlikely for him to agree to being moved in trade.

    Yeah the dude has absolutely raked at every step along the way. All 6 of his AA home runs came in a 29 game sample as well so there's hope that there is a bit of juice in the bat. 3 out of 6 of his home runs came on the road as well so it's not as though he received a huge boost from the lefty hitter friendly home ballpark in New Hampshire.

    I think Tiedemann is the club's most important prospect if there is to be any chance whatsoever of sustained contention. I wouldn't personally rule him to be untouchable by any means but if he's the necessary component for a 1 year rental the team needs to simply walk away.

    Thankfully it was the Blue Jays prospective depth starters that suffered a litany of injuries last season vs the rotation itself. All of White, Francis, Hutchison and Tiedemann suffered from injury which limited their availability.

    I don't think the Blue Jays would have the necessary trade assets available to acquire Tatis to start with.

    I can read just fine. It seems the issue may be that you have an incredibly short memory. You specifically complained about trading Vlad for a player who barely hit .200. There was literally no other substance in the post.
