  1. Based on their asset management in recent years, letting him walk won't be a surprise.
  2. I have no idea what that team's direction is supposed to be. They might as well trade Devers at top dollar and go full rebuild.
  3. Kick some ass, C Bass
  4. Didn't read your post but believe you were asking about terms
  5. Now look, I wouldn't invest a five year contract in this player, nor would I expect any fanbase to be excited about it. But I actually think he will likely provide enough value to live up to the contract, even if doing so with a rather unappealing profile for a LF. Has to produce what, roughly 7-8 wins over those five years (his age 28-32 seasons)? He could probably do so and even provide a bit of surplus value, it's just definitely not the best way to tie up your LF spot for a half decade.
  6. They do make him sound so perfect for the Jays. The cherry on top would be the free advertising for ownership, even for road games.
  7. MLBTR predicted 30M/3 for what it's worth, said he may struggle to get more due to struggling in the latter half of this past season. Relievers with that blend of missed bats, threadbare walk rates and above-average ground-ball tendencies are of the utmost rarity — particularly over a sample as lengthy as roughly four MLB seasons. Signing Rogers at this point would be an Eduardo Rodriguez-esque indication that teams simply don’t care about ERA anymore. Still, there are practically no relievers, let alone lefties, with Rogers’ K/BB/GB tendencies in the game. His prior four years of dominance ought to outweigh a poor three-month finish to the season. That’s not to say the finish won’t impact him at all; with a strong close to the season, we’d have been talking about a four-year deal perhaps in the Raisel Iglesias range.
  8. Might not be too bad of a signing if he rebounds with the bat, versatile in the least. f***ing guy has a dogshit season and then stings us in the playoffs.
  9. BA suggested the possibility in the off season following his draft selection. I only recall this because I drafted him in LoD that winter and asked JFL to post his BA profile. I guess they didn't necessarily suggest he'd be a good CF, just that could end up playing the position.
  10. I'm still pretty married to the idea of adding Rogers to really solidify the pen. You need that kind of quality to compete with the gauntlet of late innings arms that other clubs can role out. One more guy to join Romano in the late innings/high leverage mix, and the rest really falls into place quite nicely. Swanson has shown he can be pretty dominant in middle relief, no need to ask any more of him or count on Garcia, Cimber, Bass etc to be Romano's right hand man. As a bonus, Rogers adds a second lefty to the group. They've done a great job building/solidifying the rotation with the moves the last couple off seasons - should just spend that extra 10-12M to really back them up in the BP.
  11. O/U 100 of this guys 1000 posts being complaints about the mods or this forum in general? If you don't like it, instead of being a Karen and demanding the place change to your liking, just go somewhere else. It's ironic that yesterday you called for consistency from the moderators, because based on yesterday's precedent, that would mean you should be banned for the same reason as TL.
  12. You remember this the next time some new relief pitcher comes along and we have no one there to give us a vivid description of his shoulders and thighs.
  13. Nope, Kirk is just too much of a gem for this to be the acceptable answer.
  14. I'd like to see the ballots on this vote as well. If all eighteen of these posters happen to reside in the same general region, we should probably call for tests on the water supply.
  15. Currently a free agent
  16. So the Giants would now be looking at a rotation something like Webb Cobb Manaea Stripling Wood/Junis/Desclafani?
  17. This is a nice deal when you consider what a guy like Taijuan was able to get in this market. Seems slightly expensive at first glance but that's the trade off for getting a shorter term deal. Need him to be worth roughly two wins per season, in order to live up to the contract. That doesn't seem like a stretch at all. It's not the most sexy addition but the rotation has been solidified.
  18. Not a perfect comparison but they remind me a bit of the Jays in the pre Bautista years. They'd pick away at trying to contend with some decent upper mid level FA adds but never had the sense that they were more than a fringe playoff contender.
  19. Agreed on the last part, Rogers added in below Romano makes that a pretty darn good pen.

Not sure why there was a call on the play. Schenn didn't charge, leave his feet or target the head, nor was it late or from a dangerous angle. Slowed up and then perfectly timed his move to meet Slaf behind the net. Looked like a good, clean check to me.

The latter's comments on Trouba were kinda funny, "8 million dollar man with 0 goals"
