  1. Vancouver has another SP off to a pretty good start. https://www.fangraphs.com/players/trenton-wallace/sa3017748/stats?position=P The scouting report reads like more of an RP profile, but one that could definitely play at the big league level. Wiry frame with long limbs, there is projectability remaining. Wallace has a funky delivery as he’s a left-handed sidearmer with a large arm circle, which gives him incredible deception. Paired with his unusual delivery, Wallace’s wipeout slider has plenty of sweep with downward action. His changeup has two variations, with one having a glove side fade and the other with a significant drop. His fastball has a sinking action, while his curveball is tight. Control can be lost from time to time.
  2. Wouldn't want to be the team signing Gurriel at age 30 coming off of a career year.
  3. Yeah it does seem like an overreaction, the whole situation is odd.
  4. Mickey Moniak is another former high pick that might be putting it together. Had a great spring and now is tearing it up in AAA. https://www.cbssports.com/fantasy/baseball/news/angels-mickey-moniak-thriving-in-minors/
  5. I'm probably oversimplifying by just referencing game calling but overall there seems to be something to the notion that his work behind the dish is sub par.
  6. I think both can be true. Contreras likely isn't nearly what they became used to with Yadi as a game caller. While at the same time they've still failed in both putting together a good rotation and properly replacing his leadership behind the dish. There might be something to the idea of Contreras not being good at calling games. The performance thus far from the Cubs pitching staff happens to be the strongest since before he took over the bulk of the starts behind the dish in 2017.
  7. You would think the Cards of all teams, would have understood the importance of the position and really done their homework regarding his ability to call games/work with the pitching staff etc. They have Yadi back there for 19 seasons, including the last three where the bat had clearly dried up. Everything you valued about Yadi for his leadership and defensive ability, one would think the 90M replacement would have been vetted and assumed to have similar traits.

    NHL Thread

A few years ago, the Ducks seemed to have a surplus of good young defenseman, and there were rumors the Leafs were interested in Montour. Pierre Lebrun suggested they would have to offer up Nylander to get the Ducks to part with Montour. Leafs fans thought that was the most ridiculous notion, and to be fair it took Montour quite awhile to prove them wrong - but he is definitely doing that and then some.
  9. Gabriel Martinez is heating up after that slow start
  10. Leading the Northwest league in K's in fact. His slider has a current 60, future 70 grade from FG and you can see why.
  11. Hopefully this spills over into the rest of their series and results in a bunch of suspensions
  12. A lot of that doubling will be taken up by having to lock up their own players, but point still stands.
  13. Haha yeah I checked the other night because I saw that he had a walkoff bomb, but that's been the lone bright spot for him.
  14. Looks like still in the low 90s
  15. I didn't realize he was struggling that badly
  16. They pulled him after taking a comebacker to the hand, but can't help but doubt that he was injured at all.
