  1. Arguably the worst Orioles front office move of all was the refusal to spend money on international free agents - pretty much every single successful team has at least one foreign superstar.
  2. Probably more comparing ERA - Severino 2nd half of the season = 5.57, Happ since the trade = 2.69. Plus Severino only got one out when starting in the wildcard last year. People still put too much weight behind stuff like this, but luckily for the Yankees their management doesn't.
  3. Yeah similar to the incidents we've seen in the last few years with balls and bats flying into MLB crowds. TBF she was quoted as saying she didn't want to make a big deal of it at the time as she didn't want to put Koepka off his game - not sure I could have been that calm!
  4. In all seriousness it's been reported that she has lost sight in that eye and will be suing the course.
  5. Bye bye Pompey. TBF even though there will be other people leaving his time here is probably up anyway.
  6. Pretty much spot on! Batter fWAR = 2.0 Pillar and Grichuk Pillar is clear in the lead with 2.5 bWAR and Grichuk is only 3rd behind Smoak. Pitcher fWAR = 2.1 Happ (embarrassing!) Borucki is the bWAR leader with 1.7 (Happ doesn't even make our top 4)
  7. That is a great question! According to this MLB.com article: "It should be noted that today's game will be played with a 40-man roster, while the NL Wild Card Game has a 25-man roster that can leave off pitchers used in Game 163." While searching for the answer I saw that Blackmon hit for the cycle yesterday, pretty cool.
  8. Without looking, who do you think were our final top WAR position and pitcher players this season? There's a tie with position between 2 players, and the pitcher I was surprised at (I didn't consider him and would have thought the player who finished 2nd would have "won"). EDIT: this is fWAR, just checked and bWAR has our best position player as 1 of the 2, and the pitcher is the second guy from Fangraphs.
  9. Haha, yeah you’re right that does feel like a long time ago!
  10. Pretty depressing that Vlad’s spring training home run in Montreal that they just showed ended up being the high point of the season!
  11. Not necessarily - I think if Pillar is moved it’s likely we acquire a veteran OF on a short term contract. But even if we don’t, we’ve got Smith Jr with a chance of being the 4th outfielder, and Hernandez will play most games out there unless we can get rid of Morales. IMO Alford should start in AAA and get a call up as soon as he shows any kind of good form.
  12. Both the Dodgers and Rockies are up early, looks like at least one play-in game will be needed (the Cubs are currently losing so one might not be needed in the NL Central).
  13. Over/under on the number of these guys that start game 1 next year? 3?
  14. According to the broadcast team Martin wants to give Pillar a chance to get to 40 doubles, and if he does then Davis will then come on for him
  15. That's it and Molinari does seal it! No European has ever gone 5-0 before.
  16. Would be good to see Molinari get the winning point and go 5-0.
  17. It's going to be a close finish! Woods and Mickelson well on the way to going 0-6 though.
  18. The US will have to load their better players up front tomorrow - if Europe get a few early leads then it's basically over. Still can go either way though!
  19. Haha, you really are a miserable sod, do you even like baseball?
  20. Well Giles was never going to pitch for them again after destroying his relationship with the team, and Osuna is an elite reliever with two more years of control so I don’t think indefensible is the right term. If you offered them the chance to reverse the trades I’m not sure they would. I mean you could say just trade for Osuna in one deal without getting Giles first, but it obviously doesn’t work like that.
  21. Getting rid of Morales to free up DH would be great but who is going to trade for him? The Royals are slashing payroll and rebuilding, and a DH only who is average at best isn’t really worth anything. That 3rd year on the contract is the biggest Shatkins mistake so far IMO. While I understand they had identified him as an EE replacement and wanted to get a deal done early, with the market for his type of player dried up, I just wish the 3rd year (if it was needed to secure him) had been an option instead.
  22. They are a bit like the Orioles of a few years ago, lots of strange FO decisions but get away with it with good record (back to back postseasons now). If they follow the same pattern, they’ll collapse when people like Arenado leave.
