  1. That pitch was unhittable. Going to be a lot of strikeouts today!
  2. Guess that Beau Taylor being selected means we won’t see Maile again this season (maybe ever if McGuire sticks?).
  3. What a great game that was!
  4. The rumours here are that Bayern are trying to get the Sane deal back on, but honestly transfer window speculation here is 95% rubbish - journalists and agents such make s*** up. Agree it’d be a shame if he’s moved to left back. He could establish himself as on the same level as Gnaby and Coman, and Perisic is only on loan.
  5. Hey JFL, Davies scored for Bayern yesterday! If they don’t buy Leroy Sane by the transfer deadline tomorrow, Davies should get quite a bit of playing time this season.
  6. Hopefully the investigation shows he wasn’t a long term addict. If he was then even if he wasn’t directly enabled by Angels staff it seems unlikely that no one would notice anything, and there could be a big scandal.
  7. No way these drugs were prescribed to him, they are banned by the MLB. Perhaps he was self medicating (dealing with pain) and got a staff member to score for him. Then got unlucky with an oxycodone batch laced with fentanyl.
  8. A sad day for football. I’ve only been to Bury once, to watch my team play them before we went out of business. A good lower league traditional stadium - 4 classic stands and right next to a housing estate!
  9. Well that’s it for Bury - they’ve been expelled. 14 day extension for Bolton.
  10. Both Bolton and Bury will start again from the bottom of the pyramid if they aren't rescued. Just like my team (Darlington) they'll have to change the name (we added 1883 on the end), go part time, find somewhere to play, and get used to playing in division 9/10 (for them in the North West Counties League) against the likes of Runcorn Town.
  11. Unfortunately running a team is expensive and both Bolton and Bury have owners that don’t want to lose money by selling, but aren’t prepared to bankroll their teams either. I do think there should be a fund that PL teams should have to pay into to act as a failsafe for teams in danger of going out of business. This could fund teams that are then compulsory taken over (instead of being expelled from the league) while searching for buyers. I’m not sure how long that could go on for though, the FA would be worried about encouraging irresponsible spending, and the PL isn’t run by the FA.
  12. Yeah and he’s only pitched barely 20 innings in total with us before this season.
  13. Gio Urshela also has 40 hits in that time. The Yankees will be crazy good if they are ever fully fit.
  14. Haha, utter nonsense. Teams need a big squad to cover for form and injuries. Football players get injured all the time, all modern teams rotate players (the first choice 11 basically no longer exists and hasn’t for years), and the wages for squad players are significantly less than the transfer fee you’d have to spend on a new player when your 1st choice left back gets injured and you don’t have anyone else because you’ve got a tiny squad so you don’t “waste cash”.
  15. We've had a bad few years and Vlad didn't hit the ground running, can you really blame people for getting a bit carried away with Bo having a great start and us having a young exciting core? It's just nice to have some good Jays news for a change.
  16. It’s an exciting time to be a Jays fan, lots to be optimistic about. But before we all get carried away, a dose of realism is needed. We’re one injury to Gurriel away from having one of the worst outfields in the league. The young players (especially the infield) are still mainly potential. The pitching needs additions from external sources and internal development. We don’t need a drastic rebuild, we just need to be patient.
  17. You’re making my point for me. All potential. Right now he’s the 17th best catcher by fWAR. That isn’t very good, that’s a bit above average. No one is saying he won’t be a top catcher soon - but it’s optimistic to think that’ll be as soon as the beginning of next season.
  18. That’s exactly my point. Yes he’s going to be really good. He is not yet really good compared to the rest of the league.
  19. I’d love for us to reinvigorate the team by getting some top of the rotation talent. Can’t see it happening this offseason, but hope I’m wrong.
  20. That’s quite optimistic really. Our outfield is average at best. Biggio and Jansen may need another season of development before they can be considered really good players. There’s genuine questions over Vlad’s weight and effectiveness at 3B. Our current bench players like Drury and McKinney are s***. Most of our players have more potential than current ability, and that’s going to be the excuse the front office uses to delay spending big bucks on pitching for another year IMO.
  21. Sanchez has a pectoral muscle injury. If the Astros use him again this season it should be as a reliever. Difficult to commit to him in the rotation when he’s plagued by injuries.
  22. Yeah for a 32nd round pick he’s had a fantastic career.
