There is some merit to the strategy that if you are going to face an absolute ace like Crochet in game one of a short series then you should position your ace (Fried) to pitch game two instead of game one.
Kirk plays a key defensive position and Stanton's legs don't figure into the game if he is hitting bombs. Bo isn't going to be legging out doubles in the gap. Big difference.
Bo is slow when healthy. What happens if he gets on base as a DH? Save him as an off the bench bat late in the game and then pinch run for him if he gets a hit. If he plays the Jays will be deploying him once a game. That's it.
