  1. The reason I mention "semi rebuild" is that with the investment in Rogers Center renovations the Jays want to average at least 30k people a game. Toronto fans can be fickle and I don't think a full on rebuild is in the cards. By semi rebuild we can stay competitive enough wherein when have shot a wildcard spot every year. Sustainable competitiveness is the goal. We're not going to be the best team in the East.
  2. The thing is why invest in Bellinger for that term when it is entirely likely that this team could be in semi rebuild mode from 2026-29? Sure Bellinger would garner trade value but the same could be said for Yelich, age notwithstanding. Either way, the white board in Atkins office must look really interesting right now.
  3. It's scary when as a Jays fan I'm already pondering what next seasons trade deadline is going to look like. Slim pickings right now.
  4. Losing streak. We had just lost 7 of our last 10 including losing 11-0 to the Marlins. Panic sets in.
  5. I think Atkins has his heart set on Paredes for 3b. Deal incoming. Hope we don't get fleeced.
  6. Sex dolls and chemical castration. Come on mods...shut this mother down.
  7. Isn't there some provision for the Commissioner to rule "in the best interests of baseball" or something to that effect? Perhaps it doesn't apply within the purview of financial agreements per the cba.
  8. What are the tax implications for such a large payout at the end of the contract? I would think he would be taxed at a higher rate. Not sure about the US but I know in Ontario when someone is paid out severence at the end of their employment they can negotiate to have it chunked out in increments to avoid one large tax forfeiture.
  9. Okay maybe not at third rather 1b/dh but do You guys want to pay nine digits to have Chappy back? No. Perhaps just plug the hole with IKF or make a deal for Paredes.
  10. I can see this working but get rid of your dh candidates and your IF suggestion and give me Jorge Soler (2/$32M) and put Rhys Hoskins at 3b for 4/$80 or 3/$65.
  11. Yeah, I don't see the reaction on this board that DP is referring to. Most are just disappointed with the outcome but happy we were in the running. Were we played? Possibly, but all is fair in love and war....and free agency it seems.
  12. I believe JRam is the most coveted player by almost everyone on this board, and for good reason. Could it be an Xmas wish come true? Come on Ross, make it happen.
  13. Vladdy going to pulling that thang in 2024...
  14. I heard that Kevin Gausman has a McDonald's booked for him and 50 guests tomorrow night.
  15. Jays fans feeling so insecure right now that we're ready to throw money at anyone and anything.
  16. How many 2024 Blue Jay threads are we going to have? We already have Blue Jays 2024, which was started during the 2023 season.
  17. It is hard to fault Ohtani for taking the most $$$ he could get. Who among us wouldn't do the same? That said, am I hoping for a barrage of injuries to come the Dodgers way in 2024? Yes. Do I hope they knocked out of the playoffs every year? Yes. Do I hope the back half of the Shohei contract turns into an albatross? Absolutely.
  18. A narrative is building on the interwebs that Morosi was fed the info that Sho was in a plane to Toronto. Similarly Hoornstra given info that a deal was done with the Jays. Both leaked by Ohtani's camp. If true than for sure the Jays were played. Kind of slippery dealing.
  19. Can't wait until this thread is locked forever. Yes, I'm bitter.
  20. April 26 and 27 Dodgers are in town. Hope we don't boo Ohtani because it would make us look bush league and petty.
  21. Hoping for an insider update on this one soon if you can swing it.
  22. Well from the looks of it the Dodgers countered with the $700M and that was a bridge too far for Rogers. Not sure how I feel from a fans point of view. The Sho would have been incredible for this team but being pragmatic, it would not have made sense. Doesn't take the sting away though.
  23. Well....I....uhm......I will have to live with it...I guess.....can't talk right now.
