    What a disappointment this off season has been. IKF and Turner. We were reduced to taking our fourth best option. Beggars can't be choosers I guess. Gonna be an interesting season, hopefully for not the wrong reasons.

    Congratulations to all the inductees. But did any of us watching Mauer play think that this guy is a HOFamer? Besides his anemic power how much did he actually play as a catcher? Yeah if he was a career catcher give him his due, but playing a below average first base and DH for almost half his career doesn't do it for me. I guess Russell Martin chances for HOF just went up.

    Three guys I didn't want to see back on this club were Merriefield, Espinal and Chapman. We're two thirds of the way there. Espinal shouldn't be on the opening day roster if things go according to hoyle. IKF and Biggio provide versatility to man every position on the field except pitching. Not bad.

    Schneider has been on record saying they have no intention of playing Varsho behind the dish other than a no choice emergency situation.

    Yeah, don't kid yourselves folks, he is going to get his PA's. I assume this means we're out on Chapman which isn't a bad thing. Can't deny IKF's versatility.

    Looks like they're turning the Jays into the Leafs with the suits having all the best seats. Next thing you know they will arrive for the 3rd inning and leave before the 7th inning stretch.

    I get that Manoah would have his own unique sense of style with the shorts suit but why is he wearing a double breasted tux in 2023?

    The reason I mention "semi rebuild" is that with the investment in Rogers Center renovations the Jays want to average at least 30k people a game. Toronto fans can be fickle and I don't think a full on rebuild is in the cards. By semi rebuild we can stay competitive enough wherein when have shot a wildcard spot every year. Sustainable competitiveness is the goal. We're not going to be the best team in the East.

    The thing is why invest in Bellinger for that term when it is entirely likely that this team could be in semi rebuild mode from 2026-29? Sure Bellinger would garner trade value but the same could be said for Yelich, age notwithstanding. Either way, the white board in Atkins office must look really interesting right now.

    It's scary when as a Jays fan I'm already pondering what next seasons trade deadline is going to look like. Slim pickings right now.

    Isn't there some provision for the Commissioner to rule "in the best interests of baseball" or something to that effect? Perhaps it doesn't apply within the purview of financial agreements per the cba.

    What are the tax implications for such a large payout at the end of the contract? I would think he would be taxed at a higher rate. Not sure about the US but I know in Ontario when someone is paid out severence at the end of their employment they can negotiate to have it chunked out in increments to avoid one large tax forfeiture.

    Okay maybe not at third rather 1b/dh but do You guys want to pay nine digits to have Chappy back? No. Perhaps just plug the hole with IKF or make a deal for Paredes.

    I can see this working but get rid of your dh candidates and your IF suggestion and give me Jorge Soler (2/$32M) and put Rhys Hoskins at 3b for 4/$80 or 3/$65.
