Atkins is a terrible diet. Men need carbohydrates. Especially athletes for energy to burn.
What Kirk needs is to quit the overeating, ramp up his protein intake, and get his macros on point. He doesn’t have to give up any delicious foods he just needs to be in a slight calorie deficit and combined with resistance training he will shed fat fast and build muscle in the process. He could dramatically change his body in half a year with commitment. Blue Jays have access to personal chefs and trainers. He’s just lazy. Dieting wouldn’t even be a chore for him like it is for most people.
