  1. Back before internet radio was a "thing", I'd have fun at night trying to tune in to as many sports games as I could on my little portable radio. Living here in the Midwest is actually a benefit for that since you can get a broader range of channels versus if you were living on one of the coasts. I used to faintly get the Leafs games on a Hamilton, Ontario radio affiliate CHML 900 AM. It's funny, I couldn't get the Jays on their flagship station FAN590 since there's a St Louis sports station called 590 The FAN on the same frequency! Listening to the Dallas Stars on WBAP 820 AM was the best especially when they played Edmonton in the playoffs.
  2. I drive for a living here in St Louis during the evening so I'm always listening to the Blue Jays on gameday audio in my car. Probably the only person in the area listening to a Toronto baseball game while everyone else is listening to the Cardinals.
  3. You know you're getting good attendance when you're getting 40,000+ fans for weeknight games against the San Diego Padres.
  4. Maybe those teams saw him as another Danny Valencia in the clubhouse. Maybe he thought he deserved more playing time, even though his numbers were nothing compared to when he came to Toronto, and he was a distraction to the team.
  5. Speaking of blue jays and mariners trades, both brandon league and morrow have both fell off the face of the earth!!
  6. Not sure why he has Upton Jr on his jersey. His brother doesn't play on the same team anymore and his father isn't playing at all. Jose Cruz Jr never had the Jr on his jersey and his dad DID play in the major leagues at one point!
  7. Bautista shouldn't ever be in the National League unless a team is going to make him a full time first baseman. Encarnacion moved from 3rd base to 1st base and DH for the better of the team so why can't Bautista. He doesn't sound like much of a team player.
  8. TSN stat of the night!! ^^^ Dickey will probably throw a no hitter his next time out with Buck announcing since the broadcasters dictate how the players perform on the field!!
  9. Baltimore fans ocding about what goes on in the Blue Jays game!!!
  10. I actually thought Jim Hughson did a pretty good job when he was calling games on CBC.
  11. This. And have Buck be the colour commentator.
  12. Who's going to get removed from the 25 man roster when Goins comes off of the DL? Tepera or another reliever? Or maybe it'll depend on what kind of transactions take place in the next few days.
  13. You're going to have to sit on the rooftops across the street to catch one of Stanton's home runs! Maybe Ichiro will get his 3,000 hit at Wrigley Field. That would be a great place to have it happen. I remember when Gwynn got his 3,000 hit at Olympic Stadium. Probably didn't receive as much fanfare as it could have somewhere else since San Diego at Montreal wasn't exactly a sportscenter-worthy match-up even with the milestone.
  14. Speaking of which, do they have any testing or rules about PED's over in Japan? I wonder if Wladimir Balentien was on steroids when he hit all those home runs since he wasn't exactly a home run hitter here in the mlb.
  15. I remember the Randy Ruiz craze! It looked like he ended up playing over in Japan. It should have been HIM that broke Oh's single season home run record instead of Balentien!!
  16. I bet the prices are outrageous! Pretty much any restaurant with an athlete's name on it is going to be overpriced. Mike Shannon's here in St Louis near Busch Stadium is no exception as well as George Brett's out in Kansas City which closed a couple years ago
  17. U.S. Cellular is in a dangerous part of town. Subway stops at 35th and Sox if I remember correctly. Keep your wallet in your front pocket!! The park seems small on tv and even smaller in person. The outfield walls seem so close to home plate.
  18. When I think of a bad Blue Jays pitcher, Luke Prokopec is always the first person that comes to mind!
  19. If anything, he'll strengthen the bench and can be a late inning defensive replacement, pinch hitter, or pinch runner. At least the Jays aren't going after Kemp instead! Imagine him playing everyday on artificial turf. He looked kind of slow to that ball that Saunders hit for a triple.
  20. The ball's all the way over the wall before he even announces that it's a home run. The "delayed" home run call!!
  21. I remember when Wallace was a top Cardinals prospect and was involved in the Holliday trade, and now he's bounced around a bit and is toying with the Mendoza line as a bench player on a bad team
  22. Who says a guy can't multi-task? He could be banging a chick while simultaneously checking the scores or his fantasy leagues on his phone!
  23. f*** the Rangers and the Royals no matter what division they're in!!
