  1. "B" should be 1985 instead of 1987.
  2. But how will Price pitch in the playoffs? Obviously if the Blue Jays play a one-game wildcard, you would hope for it to be at home since the team can use the adrenaline from the crowd as an advantage. The atmosphere would basically be like the game 5 against Texas, win or go home!
  3. This is EXACTLY why he was acquired. Maybe there was some discussions behind the scenes about Martin having some nagging injuries at this point of the season, and the front office knew if he needed any extended time off, that the man from Breese, Illinois (which is where I was last night), Josh Thole, would not be someone they would want to give regular playing time in September or even the postseason. And the fact that Navarro has a familiarity with some of the pitching staff and the rest of the team is a bonus!
  4. Shea Hillenbrand as hitting coach and Ted Lilly as pitching coach! At the very least, it'd be funny to watch them interact with John Gibbons again!!
  5. Or Canseco and his steriods to be the hitting coach!! Those warning track balls would have been home runs then!!
  6. I guess only the REAL Mark Messier can guarantee a victory!
  7. It seems to me that the team just didn't have any fire tonight after they did everything they could to come back last night, and it just deflated them that they barely fell short on a remarkable defensive play at the end. If Gardner doesn't make that play, and the Blue Jays ended up winning that game, they probably would've came out with more energy and passion tonight instead of looking like a team at the end of a 9-game road trip and looking forward to crossing through customs.
  8. He'll be on here at 3 in the morning cussing people out!!
  9. Time to become a Padres fan for a couple hours!!
  10. That's when the Blue Jays could actually score runs!!
  11. At least he put the ball in play and almost tied the game instead of Pillar and his taking good pitches and swinging at ones out of the zone. I wonder if he mentally flips a coin in his head before every pitch deciding if he's going to swing or not?!?!?
  12. It WOULD be nice to have another left-handed bat in the lineup, but at what cost? If the Jays had to take on most, if not all, of Votto's salary and give up Sanchez, wouldn't the Reds have to throw in one of their young pitchers to sweeten the deal, like Finnegan or DeSclafani?
  13. Speaking of Gibbons and his "favourites", I read that he actually contacted Buehrle to see if he was interested in joining the team in September and Buehrle said he wasn't. He probably hasn't even thrown a baseball competitively in almost a calendar year. Not sure how serious Gibbons was about inquiring about his services for the September run or where Buehrle would even be used if he WAS even able to pitch anymore.
  14. The thing is, the last few games of the regular season may also be do or die to even make the wildcard game, and so you may have to use your best pitchers THEN just to get to that one-game wild-card, so you'll pretty much have to use whoever is the most rested at that time for that game.
  15. A bat flip to celebrate a potential ALDS series clinching victory, or a bat flip to celebrate a regular season victory on August 31 to put your team 8.5 games up in the division....hmmmmm, which one is more inappropriate?!?!?!?
  16. That Orioles fan predictably disappeared once the Orioles fell out of first place.
  17. If a team signed him, could they send him to winter ball to get him back in the baseball groove?
  18. Vin Scully was broadcasting games back when Honus Wagner played!!!
  19. It's pretty bad when the visiting team's fans have about as good of a chance to catch a ball in the stands as the home team's!!
  20. The team has been mediocre for 20 years. They never were in much contention for a playoff spot so, especially this late in the season, spending money on tickets and concessions for a team not making the playoffs seems like a waste of time for most non die-hard baseball fans. But with the team being a playoff caliber team for about a calendar year, the fans have more of a reason to spend their hard earned money to watch a bunch of overpaid athletes who actually have a legitimate chance of winning something. Baltimore has had more winning seasons the past couple of years, and are currently in a playoff spot right now, and had a very sparse crowd against a hated divisional rival who brought alot of their own fans with them. How many Orioles fans do you see at the Rogers Centre when the Orioles play there??? Cleveland has always had attendance issues, which is why they had the wonderful idea of having 10 cent beer night back in the 70's which turned into riot night in the stands! This season, Cleveland has been in first place for much of the season and still don't attract a very big crowd.
  21. That sounds about right for someone who roots for the Baltimore OREOS!!
  22. Who takes attendance figures when the grounds crew is still getting the field prepared for the game?!?! Probably still more fans then were officially counted for tonight in Baltimore for a team also in a playoff spot.
  23. Another home run for Votto!
  24. Only 15,000 fans for a divisional matchup? And alot of those fans are Blue Jays fans.
  25. Jerry Howarth mentioned Osuna for the 9th.
