I don't think he can with Shapiro/Atkins running things. They want to be conservative with our prospects. I can see a scenario where he's up here by May or June though, if he slaughters AAA while Smoak flounders above.
Reading and hopefully watching the continued development of SRF, Vlad Jr, Bichette, etc.
I'm hoping Stroman finally has a season in the MLB similar to his AAA season a few years ago with a high K/9. I hope Liriano has a good season tossing to Martin, and Sanchez continues his development.
I'm excited to watch Eric Thames and will go see one of their games when they come to Rogers Centre.
The scary thing is he just started throwing the CU last season and it's already flashing plus, along with his nasty SL, and sweeping FB. If those pitches and his emerging CH continue to develop, he could be our first real homegrown strikeout starter in ages (Stroman could have been one imo before the tampering and ego s***).
That swing is beautiful. If he can time his load properly as he moves up levels, he's going to be really something fun to watch!I hope he starts in Lansing with Vlady this year.
Yeah. He's got this weird passion about pitching to contact and I'm not sure why. Maybe it's Buerhle getting in his head, who knows.. All we do know, is that changed slightly for a 2 month period last season and hopefully that bleeds into this season.
If Blackmon had the same years of control, sure, I may have been more open to it. Anyone can be moved for the right return, that said, I'd like to see us lock up Strochez to team friendly deals first, so their value is at an all-time high.
I would have been down for that if said pitcher was JA Happ. I wasn't really enthused about shipping out Stroman after a down year from a results standpoint.
I think he's going to have a big year. I see his K/9 total going up to the 8.5-9.2 range with an increased usage of the high 4SM and improvement on the CH. I'm going to go out on a limb and say I think he approaches a 5 WAR season this year.
Absolutely. I really think 7/210M could get it done at this point, but not sure how high Shapiro/Atkins would even go for him. Would they even go past 5/150M?
Well, it allows us to make Upton the 4th OF (which makes him a pretty good 4th OF) and send Carrera down, so that's great. And if Pompey spanks AAA as well, you can call him up, trade Upton, and make Pagan the 4th OF.
7/210m. I feel, health permitting, we could recoup much of that value in the 1st 3-4 years of the contract, perhaps enough for us to end the contract with surplus value.
That does look beautiful and fluid with great weight transfer. I wonder why scouts never comment on that?
I would imagine being around JD, Tulo and Bautista each Spring Training should help him even more. He seems like a knowledgeable sponge to that type of stuff.
He should just simply limit coaching/catcher mound visits, remove the manager waddle for pitching changes and RP mound warm-up pitches unless an injury happens to the current pitcher and the RP comes out cold, and add time-limits between pitches thrown and/or batters box step-outs.
Thanks for that insight, but I wouldn't really include those types of players in my criticism since it's not their fault. I'm mostly holding the dumb Canadian meathead players who can barely string together 3 words, accountable for that issue.
