  1. And an Asian one at that. Cue the "all Asians look alike" jokes.
  2. Oh.... My...... God...
  3. I hope if we do end up getting a new pitching coach, we look to Houston's system. Whatever they're doing, I want some of that working with out staff!
  4. Interesting. Was hoping for Espada personally, but I'm interested to read up on Montoya.
  5. The kid's gon' learn t'day.
  6. Or north... or south...or even go to Baltimore at all... haha
  7. I'll never understand the dislike for improved accuracy in the game. I don't mind the length of games as long as they get big decisions correct.
  8. This. WTF are you on about Tercet? People may expect a Billy Butler ceiling out of him, but anything less is expected. Anything more is gravy TBH.
  9. I couldn't agree more. What, in your opinion, is the reason Houston can get so much out of their pitchers? Coaching, better application of analytics, witchcraft?? Maybe a bit of everything? Whatever they're doing, and Cleveland, for that matter, I hope we can replicate it.
  10. If only SRF could harness his stuff more consistently. It's so nasty.
  11. I would argue that he does have elite stuff. He has a Mid-90s FB that tops out around 97/98mph, and has an elite breaking ball from most reports, a flawless delivery and great control. His height is the only sub-par critique and that can't be quantified in a stat.
  12. Just read Sanchez' line on FG so far, looks awful and very typical.
  13. I wouldn't say those above are 100% AA necessarily just because he drafted. You need allocate a % to Shatkins for their extensive changes to player development.
  14. Thanks dude and Np. Here's another I just thought of, which could be an interesting qualitative debate, in-line with last ep's Shapiro discussion: - Is there anything Shapiro/Atkins cab improve on/have failed at, this far in their tenure? Perhaps PR stuff.
  15. Keep up the great work BTW boys!
  16. - Sean Reid-Foley's potential to in the bigs, after his latest showing in NY, in comparison to Tercet's rating on him. - Potential Jays standout performances in the AFL - How high do each of you think Pearson could climb next season, if healthy, and if performance lives up to his publication ratings - Who are the Jays most likely to be traded this OS?
  17. Good point. It's interesting how many of our starters have pitch mix issues. I wonder where the blame would fall for that? The pitching coach, management, people in between? All I know, is it feels like Stroman has had an awful pitch mix since he moved up from AAA and seemed to lose all whiff ability overnight, and there's something not right with that.
  18. Thanks guys! That's very helpful.
  19. I have a general question that hopefully a more knowledgeable poster here can answer. How come Fangraphs team WAR is measured far lower than individual WAR? The top team in the MLB, for example, are the Astros with 5.6 WAR. The lowest is the Orioles with 1.6 WAR. https://www.fangraphs.com/depthcharts.aspx?position=Team If I check an individual team, like the Astros, it breaks down position contributions by player, and then it says, for example, that, say, Altuve has contributed only 0.5 WAR but we know, individually he has actually contributed 4.3 WAR? https://www.fangraphs.com/depthcharts.aspx?position=ALL&teamid=21 https://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=5417&position=2B
  20. I doubt they could get away with that. Someone would have figured it out by now.
  21. It's actually ridiculous how much ahead of every other pitching system they seem to be. I bet Stroman would have a 11 K/9 in Houston. Whatever they're doing, if only we could apply the same technology/coaching/etc to our guys, that would be great.
  22. Foley looks good!
  23. Vlad may be a different cat too, though. Because he comes from money, he has less need for it. Perhaps he signs an extension with the main motivator being comfort level?
