  1. that's a good idea and also get him in vs. his old team. JS is a players coach and you have to think Hoffman wants to pitch this series
  2. I think JS is fed up with all the talk about run differential and he's doing something about it
  3. Didn't see it live or PVR What's up with Loperfido? Does it look serious?
  4. I feel people just always want something to pitch about Unfortunately they cant afford to start Schenider. If they put him at DH than the jays effectively have nobody that can play backup IF on the bench France wont be on the roster once Springer and Gimenez return
  5. Ty France won't be on this roster once Jays get healthy, we're still down Gimenez, Springer, and Santander. He's just a vet stop-gap and he's salary is almost league min.
  6. thanks and i agree here. But, just frustrating to me on the push back on this Varland acquisition. Control does matter very much. Yes Varalnd could become the next Erik Swanson ... or he could continue being an elite arm for next 5 years or, converting back to a starter ... all at a very good cost-controlled contract. It's a risk yes. But, that's baseball. Rojas is a risk too, he could amount to nothing, or could be the next Johan Santana.
  7. the simple, and most realistic, thing here is that the Twins probably liked the Phillies offer the most for Duran. Each team has their own scouting reports and version of top 50 prospects in each organization. I doubt they follow public lists. I'm pretty sure the Jays probably would've liked Duran over Varland too.
  8. the bolded is the arguement i don't understand for folks. On one hand we have Varland who has 5.5 years of control, has established himself as a bullpen arm and has MLB experience as a starter. Is young enough that can improve, or even convert back to a starter. But... he's 5.5 years of control doesn't matter? However, Rojas who is a prospect and hasn't thrown a pitch at the MLB level is a more valuable piece and his performance is more guaranteed? The way i see it, both Rojas' and Varland's future performance is unpredictable. But, in Varland's case he's shown success at the MLB level so this is a very FAIR trade in my opinion and i'm happy we made it
  9. whos that guy on here that was all mad that the Yankees won the trade deadline in our division by making their bullpen elite, while we did nothing?
  10. jays gotta get Bo re-signed. Feels he's been a jay for a decade and he's still only 27
  11. is this sarcastic, or am i missing something?
  12. Springer, Kirk, Santander and Gimenez all on IL though i get the logic, Keeping Schneider on bench allows better pinch-hit flexibility
  13. that's debatable Bednar is also not proven in the AL and he'll be going up against some good slugging teams in the AL East in hitter friendly ballparks. Let's see how Bednar and Doval do the rest of the way vs Varland and Dominguez who are at least proven this year in the AL and have put up strong numbers so far this year.
  14. is Varsho expected back tomorrow?
  15. i really hope Santander is back at some point but, assuming he's not i like the flexibility this roster has for sure.
  16. He'd be a rental if he 1. declines his player option or, 2. the jays and him don't work out an extension two things that we'd be prematurely predicting at this point. Jays have not had an issue retaining or attracting top talent
  17. and you know this how?
  18. I think Manoah working his way back to the big club as a bullpen option is a good option this year, and i wouldn't trade him. I'd want to have him stick around to fight for a rotation spot next year, he still has potential to be a very good SP.
  19. if we can somehow land Suarez and Cease from San Diego i'd be estatic! let's get it done Ross! We still potentially have Varsho, Gimenez, Santander, Garcia, and Sandlin coming back which can be big impact players. Especially Santander he's a big wild card here for us. At this time also hoping Manoah can come back and snag a bullpen role and be effective. Play off time Cease - Bieber - Gausman - Scherzer as starters Hoffman - Suarez - Garcia - Dominguez - Rodriguez - Little - Lauer - Sandlin - Manoah - Nance - Fisher in bullpen
  20. Saurez and Cease are coming to the Jays. i feel it!
  21. Well Dylan Cease might be available it seems. If this front office thinks there's no chance of resigning Bo than how about this Bo for Cease Prospects to ARI for Suarez Go get 2 other BP arms Id be game for that not sure what that does to clubhouse though
  22. What's really crazy is who the heck could've predicted that the brewers and jays would have the best record in baseball ~100 games in. Even 1 month ago probably nobody would've taken that bet
  23. Unless we can add a top of rotation arm with some control left, than I hope we hang on to Tiedemann, Barriera, Yasavage, Rojas and Bloss. All 4 have potential to pitch in AAA next season and set us up beautifully long term come 2027 onward. Im also still high on Berriera. His career has been riddled by injuries but he's still only 21 (or 22?) Southpaw who throws a 96-97 fastball with + movement and has secondary stuff too. Kid still has top of rotation potential
  24. For the guys following closely, what's the take on Pinto? Hes a guy i was excited to acquire in the Grichuk trade. Still 22 years old and in 19 games this season at A+ has 7 HRs. Small guy but, I've always had Jose altuve vibes from him. Curious what others think
  25. Is Ricky T expected to be back throwing this season? Pitching prospects are such a crap shoot but at this point im hoping Ricky can make an impact with Jays fairly soon even if its in a relief role
