  1. i'm not too familiar with the IFA money rules but, if the Jays don't spend their IFA pool money this season does the money transfer to next year? or is there other benefits?
  2. Good read. Thanks for sharing I agree Sasaki seems to be a man with a plan and the jays track record with the splitter and developing pitchers at MLB level has been pretty good.
  3. Thanks Brownie, that pretty much sums it up We don't know what Roki wants and while the Dodgers are the face of baseball right now, in about 3 years all their star players will be in the mid to late 30's where regression is possible. I have to think Roki is interested in both short term and long term success and the Jays have shown a willingness to spend money and want to be successful. This is probably a reason why the Jays are a finalist. The stars of today might not be the stars of tomorrow and i'm sure Roki is considering this.
  4. Maybe the fact that Toronto could be Sasaki's team is a bonus for us? Japanese tend to have strong cultural values, and have a mentality of sum of all parts culture - you're successful as a whole team - no solo artists. and I think Shatkins speaks to that. He probably doesn't even care about Guerrero
  5. I just checked the Dodgers SP depth chart thinking "why would he want to go there, they're stacked no guarantee he'll get playing time" but, man do the Dodgers ever have fire power in SP department but, so many question marks. Snell and Glasnow are their #1 #2 but have had nothing but injury problems but Snell averages 120 innings per season and Glasnow's 130 IP last year was a career high. Yanomoto their #3 has 90 career IP Ohtani, Gonsolin and May who is their #4, 5, 6 all haven't pitched since 2023. I think Sasaki is prioritizing opportunity equally to preferred city. I hope this somehow plays in our favour as out of the 4 teams picking the Jays would probably present him with the easiest path with an opportunity for 25-30 starts in 2025 if that's what he wants.
  6. Let's hope so. We've heard nothing about jays being in on Yates and they have a prior relationship. Hoffman - Yates - Green - Garcia - Sandin has potential
  7. Is Kirby Yates planning on playing next year? Seems he's a free agent, what do you guys think of him on a 1-year deal? Can't imagine many teams will give him a 2 year guaranteed deal at his age
  8. not necessarily in terms of the arb process but, if the Jays cut ties with Romano because he thought he was 1 or 2M overpriced for this upcoming season than why would they be ok in re-investing that money in Manoah? It's been more than 2 years since the last time he threw any meaningful meanings and the motion of him returning at the end of 2025 season and being a positive contributor to the team seems unlikely. If he's healthy for 2026 than he'll likely be on an innings limit. i guess i just don't understand the logic of why you'd DFA Romano because the jays wanted to pay him 2M less than his projection but than you take that 2M and give it to Manoah
  9. What about Manoah? 2.2M this one i dont get
  10. What type of professional athlete goes and likes a fan post of himself in another teams uniform while he plays for another team? This just another example of Vladdy only giving a *** about Vladdy. I really hope the Jays don't make the mistake of resigning him. Just trade him already
  11. I'd love that trade but I don't see the Mets committing a mega contract to Guerrero alongside Soto. If Guerrero played SS, 3B or CF maybe but not for 1B. If we trade Vladdy I think we gotta identify the teams that have the financial means to extend him and also Vladdy would want. Yankees & BoSox? - sure but in-division Phillies Dodgers? - but how many more mega deals do they want? Appereantly they didn't go hard after Soto Giants Cubs Tigers? - history of handing out large contracts Rangers Astros I can't think of any other team willing to she'll out a 400M+ contract...
  12. Hope it's true and we make it happen. Than Briegman But whatever they do trade Vladdy too for multiple major league assets
  13. Fair point and I respect your opinion But we shall agree to disagree on this one. Being an immigrant myself and being around immigrants, speaking the English language is a show of respect, even if more difficult. The fact you make the effort is a show of your character. Vlad just wants to be comfortable.... doesn't like to go out of his comfort zone.
  14. I don't agree here He's an entertainer. MLB is the only major north American league where such a large group of athletes always walk around with interpreters If fans and fan engagement were a priority you'd make the effort to speak the language you're fans do. To me that's his choice but it shows his personality to me and his lack of caring for anything but Vladdy
  15. I have a hard time believing that the best Vlad would fetch is 1st baseman bench bat that's on the older side Unproven relief pitcher B level prospect, potential career back up Catcher
  16. I like the fit with M's we can could probably get one of their top 4 pitchers back in a trade, a BP arm, a prospect, and a roster player, maybe Robles? Only problem i see is if Vladdy is fond of Seattle and if Seattle thinks they can resign him
  17. i've been a long time reader of bjmb but, never really posted. Vladdy's outrageous interview and speculated contract demands though have made me come out of my shell. 350, 400, 500 million? that is WAY too much money for Vlad. He's had 2 great years and a bunch of inconsistent years in between. He's a negative base runner and average 1B with what is a close as it could be guarantee that'll decline. Additionally, the guy has no motivation. To this day i can't understand how he sees himself as a "superstar" but, refuses to learn and speak English and this is coming from an immigrant. You play in a country and continent that's english speaking, with english speaking fans yet, he has no desire to want to connect to them one bit. He's also been more concerned with bringing back the home run jacket rather than focusing on being a better ball player and better team mate. I hope Atkins and co get on the phone ASAP and trade him ASAP. would you rather have Vladdy at 450M over the next 13+ years or free up that salary space for 2 of Bregman/Santander/Alonso on short-term deals plus the assets (top 3 starting pitcher, corner outfielder, bullpen help) we'd get from a trade? Time for a change, and Vladdy's just not part of it anymore.
  18. shark club
  19. I don't understand how any Jays fan could root for Sale to win Cy. .. we needed him to beat the Yanks and what? f***ing off Sale!
  20. I personally don't see a OF combination of Revere Pillar Saunders Bautista and Pompey as a weakness for this team at all. Unlike the traditional team, we have the potential to get premium offensive contributions from our SS 2B and C positions. We have many options in our IF, JD Tulo Travis EE Martin and Cola/Smoke that we could get away with a light hitting OF that focuses on D. That said... hate him or love him, I want to see Pillar back in CF to start next year... his defense is to valuable and he is projected to be our 9th hitter next year... which may make him one of the top 9th hitters in the game. LF - Revere... no question about it, his skillet compliments this team perfectly RF - I would personally platoon Saunders / Bautista in RF... the rest of our defensive positions are all above average so we can get away with a less productive Bautista in RF... very hard to have 8 gold glove candidates in a line up. But what I mean by platoon is just for defensive purposes.. not in the everyday line up. I would just like to see Bautista DH a little bit more and have EE play some 1B.. let's say for 40 -50 games or give Bautista some games at 1B to save his legs a bit. As for Saunders... I would like the Jays to try him our at 1B. He has the length and the athleticism. . And it may be good for his knees / hip.. there may be some growing pains but a 1B platoon of Cola vs LHP and Saunders vs RHP at 1B with EE/JB playing ocassional 1B and Saunders covering some RF may not be a bad idea to try out. I believe that's an area of our team that we can experiment with as we argueball have A+ defenders at LF CF 3B SS 2B and C. And frankly.. 1B and RF may be the least demanding positions to play in the AL east when u consider the small ball parks and foul territories on the right siDE of the field.
