Am I the only person that thinks Halladay's coach is a bit if a moron? “My high school coach is on board with me pitching for Canada, as long as it won’t affect our school team. I’m really excited about the chance.” So basically, his high school team is more important than one of his players having the opportunity to play for a National Team? It just kinda rubbed me the wrong way.

I think it's key to have a balance. The "trash talk" type of behaviour (ie. celebrations, bat flips, personalities) is great for the new generation, and you'd think that it should be embraced, but if everyone embraced it, where would you get the passion, conflict, rivalries? Brian McCann's are key to that. The "don't embarrass my team" attitude will create that conflict and passion that baseball needs. Look at how hot and bothered everyone got about Bautista and what it created. This is great. If everyone was ok with everyone flipping equipment all over the place there would never be any conflict between teams and as a result, between fans. I like the passion caused by the different philosophies. Shows that people care...gets more people talking and paying attention.

The deal is just meh for me. Valiev and Rychel are just bodies as far as I'm concerned so I din't care about them. Baun is AHL depth... That's it. Basically it's Plekanec for 2nd. Unfortunately that's the going rate. The Leafs center depth was lacking so this gives them someone that might even be able to press Bozak for playing time. Someone who can play a defensive role that Babcock can trust. Especially with Matthews down for up to a month, and the Leads legitimately in a position to makes noise, it was a relatively cheap option for someone that can give you a useful 15 minutes to the middle. It's not a sexy move like Nash, but Nash is a glimmer of his former self. I think the Bruins overpaid badly there...I also think Ottawa got back way more than they should have for Brassard.
