Ya, but Boxy said it was a bad deal and since he speaks for all of us, that's the consensus.

If he doesn't sign by December 1st then he can't play at all this season so a deadline deal makes no sense. As far as an offseason deal goes, you're still dealing from a place of weakness as he has no contact and now another team has to deal with this headache.

Apparently the Leafs are fine letting Nylander sit if a deal isn't struck by December 1st. Good. You don't sell low on a 22 year olds talent like him. If you don't get fair value, let him sit. He gains zero leverage next year.

Only problem is you're not gonna get fair value for Nylander if you deal him now. You won't get the D-man you really want. Maybe not Larsson for Hall bad, but it would be a lesser type of d-man for sure.

There is exactly zero chance Nylander gets moved for lottery tickets. I love the draft as much as anyone, but you need to replace his talent with young, usable talent for now. Now, I wouldn't be opposed to a good player and a pick... But picks alone? Hard pass.

f*** Aledmys. This team is going nowhere right now. What we need is to add pieces and lottery tickets. Diaz is not a key piece of any championship team. He's a depth piece that you add when you're already a contender. His existence on the Jays is completely irrelevant.

It's still not easy to travel to California and win 3. The King's...OK, they're terrible. But the Sharks are a good team and when you handicap yourself with a Sparks vs. Gibson match in net, you're not doing yourself any favors. It's still a quality achievement.
