  1. I just meant I look at the game more like an old timer scout does. I'm not sure what he's getting wound up about. I understand all the sabmetrics basically, but I'm not good at analyzing them as far as it pertains to a players performance. I was actually criticizing my own perspective to be honest. I'm admittedly ignorant about a lot of things as far as how the game is analyzed nowadays.
  2. I toot my horn quite often, I'm just not sure you want to watch?
  3. Yeah, maybe I could convince BJFO to let Pompey play !B and solve all the problem the jays have, you know, since smoak is such a big problem for our team? lol
  4. I played competitively for quite a while but I never graduated to that next level. I'm still looking at the game from a scout type perspective. I know what most of the sabmetrics are and how they are used in the games bigger picture, but I find a good mix of both works well. I understand the game, I've just never advanced my perspective to the level you guys have.
  5. Smoak gives us good defense at 1B, want Cokabello out there instead. Or EE for 20 games til it screws his back up some more that 40 on the DL? Smoak is fine.
  6. Thanks for the compliment, heheh, I just meant my baseball iq is pretty f***ing low. I just like having an excuse to not have to listen to my wife for a few hours every day for half the year. f***ing bonus
  7. There's that Dickey fastball! Atta boy R.A!! Apologies to whoever BBBB is BTW, no insult intended. Honestly.
  8. Definitive proof required in order to overturn a call? Cos that ball might have went out, but unless they have different angles than what we saw, there's no way to know if that one goes out or not for sure. No freakin way you can overturn that with what we just saw. But I'm getting old so WTF do I know anyways. Lol
  9. Zaun's not that much further up the drunk tank than Martinez. Stroman is a beast and the best starter we have. Errr, second best?
  10. Yep. Blue birds are rolling right now and I think they have the attention of all MLB. Even the douche sponges that call K.C and Baltimore home!!
  11. I hear that! I was thinking the exact same thing. I think these old dudes just got a hard on for anything Canadian sometimes. That s*** with wolf the other day was just a complete embarrassment to himself, the game and his career. Then for MLB to turn around and suspend a guy who has basically very little command? When you've got the other teams pitcher acting out like a douche in his dugout and jumping out onto the field like he wants to fight, pretending that his 60 year old hitting coach is holding him back. I try not to be to biased in my observations, but in every pro sport, it seems these American refs and umps have a problem with canadian teams. Maybe I'm wrong and way off topic here but that's just how I see it.
  12. People seriously got nothing better to do with their time?? I guess you guys have been around long enough by the looks of your post counts to see who these trolls are. I'll simply be using the ignore function right quick and I juuuuust started with that guy. Thanks for the info, can't be bothered reading crap from people who don't give a crap about the team and who only come around the places to spread their negativity, amongst other things I won't bother to mention
  13. Too bad, gotta be at least one in every crowd
  14. Yeah, I was saying in another thread as well that when he mixes in his fastball a bit more, he keeps guys off balance a bit more. At least tice in his last start, he hit 84 or better with it. If he spots it and gets the velocity he needs on that KB, he'll get even better as the season ends. I just think he needs to show that fastball a bit more but keep it out of the middle of the plate.
  15. Dogg? Not as in one of those winners who posted at that joke for a jays site on their home page. That place really is something else.
  16. Touche! The way the blue birds are stacked up, it doesn't seem to matter who they are facing. They have a lot of confidence right now and that goes a long way when it spreads throughout a clubhouse. If we hadn't lost that one game where we were leading against K.C, we'd be on 8 in a row against two decent teams. 2 out of 3 against the yanks and they're the ones who need to worry, a sweep and they might just panic a bit. Big bats a boomin'! Go Jays!
  17. Yeah, the jays hit Tanaka hard earlier this year too. Dickey has been the best he's been in a jays uniform as of late too. On top of that, R.A has started off slow the past few seasons and finished up really strong. If you look at his starts the past few years, past the all star break he's kept his team in just about every game. He's a competitor and I think he'd be the first to tell you he's disappointed in how things have gone thus far. I don't mind having him on the mound in a game to start off a series like this. I have loads of faith in him with the way he's pitched lately and if he does s*** the bed? It won't be for a lack of heart, that's for sure.
  18. Please tell me you're joking?
  19. If gibby lets Loup face Buck Martinez for batting practice fun, I'll lose my s***. Loup has lost it this year, especially in close games. I think his time here is coming to an end very soon
  20. His last start, he threw at least two fastballs that hit 84 and 85. If he could spot that pitch at that speed, it would be a huge weapon for him, especially with two strikes. Guys gear up for his knuckleball almost every single pitch. I could see him locking up guys with that fastball. The thing is, it has to be at least 84 and located well. Some of his harder knuckleballs hit 79 or 80. But MB is proof that if he mixes speeds on his KB well, a well located fastball could be huge for him
  21. The thing for me is that I keep forgetting how potent our lineup actually is. The addition of Tulo makes our top 5 one of the scariest lineups in baseball history. I think the Jays go 2-1, but a lot hinges on the Dickey start tonight. As it goes nowadays, if our guys hold the other team under 5 runs and Gibby doesn't mismanage the pen, these guys are a serious threat to score 5 or more every single game. If we win tonight, I think 2 of 3 is a pretty good bet
  22. That's a tough one for me. I love both guys. The thing is that Sanchez's complete lack of command is maddening and suggests that he shouldn't even be pitching above AA ball except that he somehow finds it in the bullpen and it transforms him into a valuable backend bullpen guy. However, I'm not educated much in the submetric stats thing so you'll have to forgive my admitted ignorance. With that said, I think Sanchez has superior stuff and with the same command, I'd take Sanchez ten times out of ten. Aaron has good enough stuff that with two strikes, he continued to throw that har sinker and guys weren't hitting it even when they knew it was coming. I know it's completely ignorant to say, "well, if you'd just take away his walks." Aaron still has a lot of time to learn his release point. It takes some guys longer than others. I'm extremely hopeful that he will learn it and when he does? Jeez, if we could sign Price long term? And with how much Stroman was trying to help Sanchez and with them being good friends? 1. Price 2. Stroman 3. Osuna 4, Sanchez 5. Anyone, anyone, Bueller That rotation has the potential to be explosive, even with Hutch as our number 5 still
