Ok after this afternoons game with Seattle I think it confirmed something to me I have been thinking about for a while. s***** to mediocre starting pitching can be overcome with the bats coming alive and a bull pen that is doing its job which they did. Sounds sort of like the 2014 royals eh. So do we need a Ace SP? Could we get along with one or two consistent middle of the road SP's before trade deadline if the rest of the team fires on all 8? The advantage to getting 1 or 2 middle of the road consistent SP's is you probably would not have to sell off all the farm prospects to do it and the farm team would be alive next year. I don't think a ace by himself is going to get us to much farther down the road in the play offs by just his addition we have a LF issue which needs filling and there is a couple options out there for the taking which could LF also.
So get a good LF (Pompey maybe good enough)combined with one or two consistent middle of the road pitchers so we spend less and give away less and probably go just as far in the long run this year. Bo, Hendriks, Sanchez, Osuno are capable of shutting the door we just need our capable bats to do their job.
