  1. Goins defence has only been mildly praised this year. Combine it with Tulo and Donaldson and Smoak the infield becomes tough for any ground ball to get through. His bat is not going to get him much praise but it has even improved since last year but its his defence that contributes in saving runs reducing some of our pitchers deficits. Another contributor is Hendricks who is a absolute beast and has not got his do, he faced the meat of the KC order and never flinched. Hendricks can go 2 innings which sets him perfectly for coming in early when a starter stumbles. This bull pen if managed properly is going to be lights out.
  2. Four more days left to make me happy. Get a starter and LF ........
  3. This team has a shot at the wild card and ALE and if either SP and LF is added at this point they may go further.
  4. The post season is not the immediate problem the SP and LF for a run at the playoffs is and to be honest now may be a good time to pick up a fleet of foot LF that can swing a bat. Big name SP is going to cost to much for no or little return this year so why go big? Detroit, Oakland went big last year and ask them were it got them and they are still s*** and sellers this year. I am not saying don't go get SP but don't sell the Farm.......
  5. Ok after this afternoons game with Seattle I think it confirmed something to me I have been thinking about for a while. s***** to mediocre starting pitching can be overcome with the bats coming alive and a bull pen that is doing its job which they did. Sounds sort of like the 2014 royals eh. So do we need a Ace SP? Could we get along with one or two consistent middle of the road SP's before trade deadline if the rest of the team fires on all 8? The advantage to getting 1 or 2 middle of the road consistent SP's is you probably would not have to sell off all the farm prospects to do it and the farm team would be alive next year. I don't think a ace by himself is going to get us to much farther down the road in the play offs by just his addition we have a LF issue which needs filling and there is a couple options out there for the taking which could LF also. So get a good LF (Pompey maybe good enough)combined with one or two consistent middle of the road pitchers so we spend less and give away less and probably go just as far in the long run this year. Bo, Hendriks, Sanchez, Osuno are capable of shutting the door we just need our capable bats to do their job.
  6. You guys drive me crazy. No LFer a under performing RFer and you guys want to make the only performing fielder a fourth. Been watching Pillar since last Aug. Sept. and he has been the only consistent defensive fielder of note the Jays have. Every one talks about Saunders numbers pre injury what are his numbers post injury? I know it is a stupid question but it points out that you have to question what his performance will be on his return to the field not his past numbers. You have to look at the severity of his injury and a torn meniscus is no small deal as his time off proves and especially if you make your living running in the field. Pillar is getting comfortable in his position on the team and I think he has finely settle in nicely in CF. He has had to be the brides maid to Pompey and Saunders way to long. Saunders should have to prove he can take over in field and not given the field on past stats. If Pompey is showing good defence in AAA they should consider bringing him back as a forth....This team is going no were with out two solid starters now and all indications are we may have one.
