    Thats no better than what I proposed. Pompey is still a very valuable trade chip. Sub out Smoral for whatever it would take within reason. My point remains the same - adding Cueto/Chapman AND Gomez would be beastly.

    Heres a couple for fun: 1. Shore up rotation AND bullpen. Target: Reds Cueto and Chapman Norris, Castro, Pentecost for Cueto and Chapman 2. Get a CF who can hit, but still play defense at a KP level. Target: Brewers Gomez. His contract is like $8 mill this year and next. When one of EE and JBau are no longer around team can build offense around Gomez/JD. Pompey, Smorel, Nay for Carlos Gomez SS Reyes 3B JD RF BauBau DH Edwin CF CGomez 1B Smoak C Martin LF Pillar/Colla/Saunders eventually 2B Travis Bench: Goins, Colla, Pillar, Navarro Rotation: Cueto, Buerhle, Hutch, Sanchez, Dickey (when Stro show comes back he pushes Sanchez to pen - he has innings limit anyways) BP: Chapman, Osuna, Cecil, Loup, Delabar, Estrada, Hendriks (weakest link gets demoted when Stro goes to rotation and Sanchez to pen) We'd still have Osuna, Sanchez, Hoffman, Reid-Foley, Tirado, Boyd for up and coming pitchers.     While we're at it maybe we can trade Navarro and Buehrle to the Cubs for Kris Bryant No offense but there is no way in hell the Astros agree to that. Carlos Correa is an unbelievable talent, he is basically untouchable.

    According to the article I posted, Dave Cameron wrote that the Brewers could expect a couple low end top 100 prospects. So Pompey (who is top 50 in most peoples eyes) and Castro might get it done. No way to tell obviously. But getting Gomez would give us another guy under cheap control for next 2 years to go along with EE and JBau, and if then instead of resigning JBau and EE, let them walk and we go forward with a potential future 3-4 of JD and Gomez which isn't bad. I realize its unlikely, but I'd love to see Gomez in CF.

    I think its the other way around. EE is the one who needs to DH, so he'd be worth more to an AL team. Jose can still play in the field at a decent level and has a cannon (if it heals). Both are probably worth more in the AL, but Jose is definitely worth more in the NL than Edwin is.

    It pretty much was by accident. They didn't think Edwin was about to explode, otherwise they wouldn't have DFA'd him only to have the A's grab him. Luckily the A's were just as stupid and let him go again so we could grab him again. AA had no idea that Edwin was going to go full beast mode. Same with Joey B. The Jays did not see that happening. They lucked out on that one too.

    What is amazing is that we fell ass backward into Jose and Edwin. We even DFA'd Edwin and he was picked up by the A's for chrissake. We fell ass backward into Edwin and Jose and then got lucky by signing them to extremely cheap contracts they continued to star, AND YET WE STILL CAN'T FIELD A WINNING TEAM. Imagine we never lucked into these 2 players. These last 5 years would have been brutal. I would trade Edwin for Cueto. I think he should be worth a little more than Cueto since he Cueto is about to become a FA. However the Reds don't have a need for a 1B so its not a good fit. I would rather trade Edwin over Bautista because Smoak can easily fill in at 1B and not kill us. When Jose gets healthy we have no other reasonable option to play OF
