  1. Supposedly, the CBT is calculated at the end of the Baseball year. So if the Jays bring up YR mid-season and then waive him, then another team picks him up, the Jays are not on the hook for his CBT charge. And he is off the 40-man. Good little piece of business, as we all know, every team looks for relievers during the season.
  2. This year, according to Fangraphs DRS for Barger: 3B: 613 innings +1 DRS RF: 413 innings -4 DRS https://www.fangraphs.com/teams/blue-jays/stats
  3. Add Yariel Rodriguez to the trade block?
  4. I think some teams out there could talk themselves into Berrios. Good track record. Pitches every start. His numbers are bad because he was injured. There is a "cap" in Baseball, and maximising your payroll is important. Berrios makes too much money for a 5th starter. Scherzer is talking about "us", maybe he would sign for like 1/5? Is Bowden done? Lauer deserves a shot at the role (lefty would look good in the rotation). What does Tiedemann look like? What does Bloss look like? Would Bassitt sign for 1/5 (probably not, some team will give him term). The question is: are the Jays better in spending Berrios' money in the bullpen or on him? What we get back for him probably doesn't matter much (how about some prospects from the mid-range of some teams top 20?)
  5. Re: Berrios trade. Some people are saying that it would be a hard trade to make. I don't think so. Many teams need a veteran starter who takes the ball every 5 days. Here is an example from an Athletic Article about St. Louis after the Gray trade: https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6837553/2025/11/25/st-louis-cardinals-sonny-gray-trade-direction/ I am sure there are many teams that feel the same way.
  6. Awesome! The Jays just got their Ace for the next 5 years! Do the Jays trade Berrios now? That is a lot of money for a 5th starter.
  7. It worked last year.........
  8. I think the move to 2b for Bo will help his fWAR
  9. My dream video game offseason: Trade Berrios to a team needing an innings eater that can't attract high-end FAs Trade Springer (I know) to a team wanting his veteran magical dust Re-sign Beiber to a team friendly deal Re-sign Bo to play 2b Sign a high-end SP Sign either Schwarber or Tucker (hopefully Tucker) Trade Hoffman Sign 2 of the available closers
  10. Meh, I think she just likes being part of the local culture. So in Toronto, it is the Jays hat. In LA, Dodgers.
  11. That's enough fun. Now on to something completely different..... The best Managers ever give you what? 1WAR per year? If even that. There is a good argument to make that teams shouldn't even use humans to make in-game decisions, and probably there is a game script prepared before the game that all teams use to follow through on. JS, also has a legit brain trust behind him, helping him make those decisions. He is probably more like a CEO than a "free" thinker. Managers' jobs are to motivate their players, protect their players from the media and effectively communicate their team's philosophy to the media. That is basically it. That is why Aaron Boone has managed multiple years for the Yankees.
  12. Bo at SS this season: -13 DRS Ummmm I don't think Bo is a SS anymore, or.... is he the reincarnation of Jeter?
  13. Ty France in August: 119 wRC+ "Second half" Ty France: 130wR+
  14. No Manoah? Or have we given up on him?
  15. Barger is a +1 DRS at 3B, while he is a -6 DRS in RF
