  1. I hope that you're right. If Morales was just like any other bad FA signing that didn't work out, then it shouldn't be too hard for the FO to move on from him. But I don't think that this case will be 100% about the metrics. Because of their haste to sign Morales to replace Edwin, i'm guessing they'll carry the deadwood for as long as they possibly can.
  2. drawing about 9K less a game (on average) sounds about right to me, which puts attendance below 2.5M for the season.
  3. looks almost exactly like the last rotisserie league I participated in back in 1985 haha ... except we used K/BB ratio instead of just totals Ks and it wasn't a dynasty league. Good times! Mattingly & Brett had monster years for me.
  4. The last time we watched the Jays play in NY (a couple of years ago) was right before the Yankees had an official agreement with StubHub ... and since we didn't want to bother finding a way to print tickets ... we just bought from the MLB site and got pretty nice seats for the 3 game series behind 1b, behind 3b, and in the right field short porch. With greater excitement around the Bombers these days, there's probably less quality availability at the box office now. We love visiting NYC but we don't spend our time in the Bronx other than being at the games ... and the Stadium is easy to get to from anywhere by the subway.
  5. Yeah, i'm happy for him because Joe's good people. Hopefully, he's promoted (further) to TV colour guy in the future.
  6. I'd rather hear Siddal on the radio or in the broadcast booth (instead of Tabler.) I rarely ever see Blue Jays Central since i'm usually either at the game or watching on MLBTV.
  7. I remember rarely missing a sports update on the TV & radio during the '83-84 offseason in hopes of hearing that Gillick had signed Goose as a FA ... (after the Joey McLaughlin horror show.)
  8. Right, as a STH, i've always been given the opportunity to buy more for the Opener & Canada Day. I see that one of the 6-game packs they sell this season features the Canada Day game. Regardless of how many extra Opening Day tickets STHs or Pack holders are allowed to purchase, I figured that whatever number of seats were remaining would be gobbled up quickly on the first day of the public sale since these "A+" demand games have been easy slam dunk sellouts.
  9. I'm not sure what you mean by that. If fans wants to buy tickets to just (say) the Opener and/or Canada Day game, aren't they able to proceed with their "single game ticket" purchase right now?
  10. I agree with you about the Leafs & Raptors likely hurting Jays attendance in the Spring as well as the brutal optics of a 17% (or whatever it is) ticket price increase across the board following a disastrous season.
  11. There still appears to be a shitload of tickets available for the Opener & Canada Day games ... which, I think, have been instant sell outs in the past. Perhaps an ominous sign of a significant drop off in attendance this season which Shapiro publicly admitted plays a role in the path the FO pursues.
  12. Has a half decent pair even been available for the Opener during the general "single game tickets" sale in the preceding 5 years?
  13. There's a nice Roy Halladay memorial area in the concourse area roughly behind home plate. I saw it today at Winterfest. Has a locker stall set up with Roy's uni hanging there. There's a big wall with number 32 made out of baseballs. Plus Halladay video highlights are rolling etc.
  14. For you Barry Davis fans, he was in da house for Winterfest in an unofficial capacity.
  15. I attended the Shapiro Q&A session at Winterfest today. I give him props for brutal honesty. When asked, "Assuming that more additions by the Jays are on the way, do you feel better about the team entering this season compared to last year's team?" And he didn't try to paint a rosy picture. His answer was basically, "No, because our position players are all one year older."
  16. I enjoy watching Giants home games late at night on MLBTV in AT&T Park and with perhaps the best commentators in the game.
  17. I'm certainly not advocating that they should've brought back Bautista, but what do you think are the chances that Joey Bats signs somewhere for the same or less than Grandy and outperforms him in WAR?
  18. Where in the standings do you think that the Jays would have to be at the July 31 trade deadline for Shatkins not to deal Donaldson? If (say) the Jays are a relatively healthy team, and have a .500 record, and are a couple games back (along with a bunch of other teams) from a WC, do you think that Donaldson would get moved? (of course we don't know what the return would be.)
  19. maybe Florida Auto Exchange Stadium North?
  20. considering that Morales' presence hamstrings the Jays by hogging the DH slot ... together with the value he bleeds from his legs ... what type of offensive numbers would Kendrys have to put up in 2018 for him to be a deserving full time DH on this club?
  21. Gibby's response (laughing) to coming last on the list: "That's shocking, especially since Gardy's back."
  22. use fewer buzzwords.
  23. how much profit did the champion Argos make in 2017?
