  1. And there goes all day Friday....
  2. playing in the AL shouldn't be held against him. The fact that Harper is significantly better should.
  3. I don't think you're grasping the concept...
  4. Can you imagine how amazing it would be though at Wrigley? I'd love to see a WS game in Chicago...great city.
  5. I don't think you get the point. There's no thread on whether JD has a pony tail or a man-bun either....maybe you should start that too!
  6. I don't understand why so many people struggle with this concept. If the Angels didn't have Trout - are they even close to making the playoffs? Hells no - they'd be awful. He's extremely valuable to his team regardless of whether they make the playoffs or not and that's the definition of MVP. A player shouldn't be ignored simply because the team around him wasn't good enough to make the playoffs. That's dumb (although we all know the voters discount the relevance of players who don't make the playoffs).
  7. Can Albert's not a very good hitter anymore either....
  8. What are Mets tickets going for?
  9. Stro's the 2nd best starter on this team and if starting Game 2 means he can start Game 5 on full rest then this shouldn't be a debate. I'm at Game 2 as well - and hoping to see the Stroshow...because well, he's awesome.
  10. Yikes - was note expecting this!! Thanks for the info.
  11. When are the game times going to be released? I got a ticket to Game 2 and need to book work off!!!
  12. Trout crushed Donaldson in wRC+ (172 to 154), 0.2 higher WAR, higher wOBA, OBP & SLG. Trout was a better hitter (by quite a bit) and overall player (by a slim margin) than Donaldson this year. He loses out on 2 stats which are highly dependant on his team and his hitting environment (note Trout and Donaldson hit .352 and .353 with RISP this year - so Donaldson doesn't get more RBI's by being "clutch"). That said - I think Donaldson will win because voters are swayed by things like counting stats and team success.....that is unless the voters decide Trout can't finish 2nd in the MVP voting for a 3rd time (which is stupid, but some are suggesting it).
  13. I don't understand why people keep talking about HFA and not about the advantage of facing the WC team that can't throw it's best pitcher twice in the series. It's not about HFA - which we may have throughout the playoffs if the WC team takes down the Royals anyway...
  14. +1 - are you making a trip out of it? Spending 4-5 days touring some cities? I love City trips. Either way - I love the effort and support!
  15. ah - I get it...nah just a good friend.
  16. Just got offered a ticket to either next Thursday's or Friday's game. Prego wife has to go to Mt. Sinai Friday morning and has to leave early to get there. Do I: A) go Thursday, stay over night and go to appointment with her...in which case we'd have to get mother in law to sleep over Thursday and take kids to school in the AM...and I'd miss 1.5 days of work (need to work weekend to make it up) go Friday so I can take kids to school Friday AM (avoiding the MIL) and only miss 0.5 days of work. Option A is a lot more effort although wife may appreciate me coming to the appointmeant...is it worth it to see the first playoff game in 22 years? Or is Game 2 going to be just as good with the Stroshow on the bump???
  17. Curious why they'd put E5 at 1st and DH Cola.
  18. Did anyone hear Barker and Jeff Blair trying to rate Sanchez's 4 pitches today? It was gold Jerry, gold. Their individual rankings didn't even include the same pitches - and neither had his 4 pitches correct. Jeff went with sinker, cutter, curveball and fastball Barker went with sinker, cutter, slider and breaking ball
  19. The difference is nobody here is suggesting he play the starters for "fantasy" reasons...
  20. This isn't really true. There are plenty of everyday people who mail it in on a daily basis and still get paid. His poor performance this year will cost him money next year (just like it should in most professions). The key is to join a union....the majority of them mail it in and get raised despite their poor performance!
  21. How much does Hutch hate life right now? Opening day starter for the best team in the AL - and there's a 0% chance he's ever on the playoff roster. That's gotta suck man. If the Jays win the WS - does Hutch "feel" like a champion?
  22. Because that happened once? I think the last time something like this happened was in like 1983. It would be a gross overreaction to change the format based on this year.
  23. Exactly. Another factor is the ALDS is only a 5 game series. An inferior team is more likely to get lucky and win in a 5 game series than they are in a 7 game series. I'll take the WC team without their ace until Game 3 in the ALDS everyday of the week.
  24. Technically, this is true. However, the big factor you're missing is 1st in the AL plays the winner of the wild card, instead of playing Texas. I think that's a HUGE difference.
