  1. Why wouldn't you expect any improvement over the course of the season from a 22 year old? I'm not saying it's a guarantee, but I don't think anyone should be shocked it happened.
  2. The only guy I thought was a good fit who we didn't get was Jason Grilli. He'd look great in a Jays uni right now. Also - how about Alex Guerrero's start to the year? There were lots of us on here chatting about how AA could get him (funny enough because we thought we needed a 2nd baseman).
  3. We are second in the majors in runs scored....our lineup is better than "OK"....
  4. Hendrik has a FIP of 1.14 and a xFIP of 1.87 - he's been fantastic.
  5. I did - Ventura deserves to be knocked. out. cold. He should have used his nationality to calm him down and then sucker punched the punk to teach him a lesson.
  6. I'm honestly very surprised there isn't a thread dedicated to quotes by Buck and Tabby......they....are....awful.
  7. I don't really get why people get so upset with these types of phrases.......If you listened to every home game, they would get very repetitive (like the come together commercials during Jays games), but I see nothing wrong with it.
  8. wRC+ of 98 last year and 85 for his career. If you're going to compare him to Goins and Thole - than yeah, I guess you have a point. The only thing he hits is the late night buffet.
  9. I think I heard Posada was getting his retired too. He had just over 44 WAR for his career, so would be equally deserving. They were joking the Yanks will have to go to triple digits soon. I agree it's only questioned b/c it's the Yanks and they have so many retired already. Interesting to see Bernie Williams when from having 6 straight years of 4.8 - 5.1 WAR (amazing consistency) straight to 4 straight years below replacement level to finish off his career.....those 4 years were driven by awful defense in CF when he obviously should have been moved there - but that's still a crazy drop off.
  10. Dumn dumn question here. Can you lose WAR you've already generated in a season? ie, is there a possibility for Travis to end the season with a WAR under 1.0?
  11. He's a 4th OFer guys. A good one. Why do we need 2 pages to come to this conclusion?
  12. I never understood how so many people missed what Billy Beane was doing. Billy Beane wasn't married to OBP.....he was simply looking for underrated value. He looked for skill sets that were grossly undervalued and underrated by the rest of baseball. During the Moneyball era - that was OBP. Over the past 3-4 years, it's been guys with big platoon splits...
  13. It's like the only games you've ever attended were on opening day...
  14. Go read your post again...it was self explanatory. Restaurants serve alcohol too....and kids are allowed in them.
  15. It was just a little tiring seeing people rip Sanchez all spring long while Norris walked on clouds like the guy on the Old Spice commercials. There's no evidence to suggest his struggles with control are at all related to this "dead arm" he's now claiming to have.....maybe it's causing it, but considering he's has significant issues with control in the minors - I'm not convinced. That all said - I do hope Norris figures out this dead arm thing and goes on to have a great year/career...as a Jays fan, a lot of the teams future really rides on that unfortunately.
  16. ban... Honestly man, a MLB game has to be one of the MOST family oriented sporting events you can attend.
  17. He's only hitting right handed???
  18. Shouldn't we have expected Norris to struggle with his command/control? Career BB/9 of like 4.0 in the minors. Everyone ripped on Sanchez all spring for his poor control (and rightfully so) while seemingly ignoring that Norris and his cool lifestyle, hipster van and handsome beard has the same flaw.
  19. Maybe a sign that says 'pay attention' would help...
  20. I have to say I never understood why people were so against the announcer being a homer. I grew up a White Sox fan (Thomas, Ventura, Durham, Black Jack, Bere, Fernandez, Thigpen.....awesome) and I always enjoyed Hawk. Although.....as I write this....all I can hear are the Jays announcers with a large slab of Russell Martin's wang in their mouth and it makes me want to punch something.....so perhaps I don't like homers after thinking about it. AAAwwwwww I hate hearing Buck and Pat assume that Jose is always talking to players about their hitting and about the game.........makes me furious. What a mess this post is.
  21. Yeah - that's a crazy 30 for 30 episode. The guy who was also reaching for the ball, but missed it must thank his lucky stars everyday.
  22. These 3 came to mind.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nSFkhzpTnVU - Ankiel's throw home....runner doesn't dare test him. - Edmonds "the catch" - Wise saves Buehrle's perfect game We could do this for decades guys...so many amazing plays in baseball history. Jeter's flip (even if he was safe, what a play).
  23. Obviously a debate question, but off the top of my head, I go with Maddux, Pedro, Johnson. I'm bias though because: 1. Those are the guys I watched in my childhood. 2. I named my first born Maddux 1.56 and 1.63 ERA's in back to back seasons - then 2.20 era's in the middle of the steroid era? unreal.
  24. I'm not sure I'd compare him to one of the best 3 pitchers of all time - but that's just me.
