  1. Your probably need to accept that we're still going to have some flaws. Almost every team does.
  2. Ever consider you might not know as much as management? Like even for a couple of seconds?
  3. To be fair, I believe Sale was trying for his first shutout in like 7 years or something. There's probably a good chance that he asked for the opportunity. Yes, the manager has to use his judgement and can overrule a vet, but there is trust and respect and lots of other factors involved. It was a freak injury. It happens. Bad things can happen without them being someones fault.
  4. Given their history over the past 2 seasons, it's really bizarre to suggest the O's know who to give money to and who not to...
  5. You compared him to Bowden Francis. That's a joke. Don't ruin the good discussions with that type of nonsense please.
  6. Some really good discussions there men. Well done.
  7. You aren't giving up Nimmala to get Alcantara. There aren't many signs that Alcantara is anywhere close to returning to his previous form. His statcast page is ice cold.
  8. That's right up there as one of the dumbest things I've heard this year.
  9. I truly hope you're not surprised by this. Doc was a HOF pitcher - the best to wear the Jays uniform (for an extended period). How often do you expect the Jays to have a pitcher as good as Doc on their roster? They call them "generational talents" for a reason right? All that said, Gauman's 2022 was on par with the best seasons Doc had in a Blue Jays uniform, albeit in 50-70 fewer innings pitched.
  10. And last year in 307 PA's v. RHP, he had a 104 wRC+ (only 73 wRC+ v. LHP)
  11. I assumed that was Munenori Kawasaki. Bush party!
  12. The beauty thing about Barger is he's shown the ability to hit LHP throughout the minors and so far this season at the ML level. We shouldn't need to platoon him. What an incredible development for the Jays. And who doesn't LOVE cheering for Barger? If he sustains this production, he'll quickly become a massive fan favourite. Bargers jerseys are going to soon be... Perhaps as hot as his statcast page?
  13. Yes - I believe that's correct.
  14. Clement: 4.8 WAR in 744 PA's since coming to Toronto. Espinal: 4.3 WAR in 737 PA's in 2021/22 So yes - he definitely is. However, just because Espinal turned into a pumpkin at about this point, it doesn't mean Clement will. But, there is a possibility that happens, especially for a guy who broke through at age 28. In the meantime, I'm going to enjoy the ride! I'd love to see him grab an all-star spot. Players like him who endure and continue grinding, only to find success later in their career deserve a f*ckton of credit and I'm really good with giving them some exposure in the all-star game. It's a great message about resiliency and never giving up on their dreams. Good story to tell to kids during the game.
  15. How about this f*ckin' team boys? Incredible. I think Ernie Clement is an all-star this year. Let that sentence set in!
  16. That's pretty crazy! I'd love to know how MLB teams view his value...but honestly, his bat is so terrible that he needs to be Ozzie Smith to warrant a starting job at the MLB level.
  17. What a bizarre stat line he has on the season (14.2 IP) 4.30 K/9 3.07 BB/9 4.91 xFIP 0.00 ERA I honestly didn't know he was still in the league.
  18. Has anyone ever gotten the last word on your Grant? I'm curious how long we could keep this going. Such a firm stance on a subject built solely on rumours, verbal recounts and incomplete information is kind of dumb. How do you know Devers is a good employee?
  19. Unreal finish. Barger has been exactly what this team needs. The future of this franchise is drastically different if Barger is a 120-130 wRC+ hitter (and if Kirk is a 115-125 wRC+ hitter). What a game! Go Jays
  20. Do we know if there are any verbal agreements in Vlad's deal? I sure want to know if there's something we need to uphold 11 years from now.
  21. It does bug me - but if we miss the playoffs by a game, I'm not sure I'm going to nitpick the last couple of arms in the bullpen being the root cause when the bullpen has been fantastic this year. Swanson's pitched 5 1/3 innings this year man - the same # Dillon Tate has. Green was bad, but not horrific up until the end of May (xFIP of 4.08). I don't want either to be in the bullpen. Hurry back Garcia, Sandlin and Burr!
  22. To be fair - this years bullpen has been really really good. 2nd in MLB in xFIP and K/9. 7th in BB/9, 10th in WAR, etc. A massive bright spot for the team. Most teams have a couple of pretty useless pieces at the back end of their bullpen and we have some good to very good RPers coming off the IL soon to replace them.
