  1. Man - go look at his minor league stats. Bring tissue and lotion.
  2. yeah, but people like Spanky.
  3. TB doesn't want to pay ANYONE $10M a year - this isn't difficult to understand.
  4. please stop guessing.
  5. Bassitt's velo has been 93.5, 93.5 and 93.6 the past 3 years....velo drop?
  6. Wow - didn't expect Vasquez to get a 3 year deal. Catchers are valued!
  7. Because we know the team operates with a budget and wasting a portion of it on s***** players is going to limit the team? Not a challenging concept. Not that Bassitt is a s***** player at all - by all accounts he's a very durable and consistent performer. He's a good addition to this team. To be honest, he's like an older version of Berrios (before he s*** the bed last year).
  8. Am I reading this correctly that Ruiz stole 86 bases in 2022 between AA/AAA/MLB? f*** me! With 16 HRs and a K% <20%. I have to think most of the scouting reports on him are outdated as they seem to reference this guy with a K% in the high 20's. This still feels like a below average return for Oakland, but there has to be some upside in this Ruiz guy.
  9. If the team has an annual average salary budget of $150M, this is a viable model/option for teams. Years 1 thru 3 - team is s***, sell off the vets to rebuild the farm system. Spend $80M annually (buying some rebound candidates you can sell at the trade deadline) - save $210M over the 3 years. Years 4 & 5 - young team is developing and starting to win, the window is opening, so you add a couple more veterans. Spend $115M annually - save another $70M over the 2 years. Years 6 thru 10 - firming in the window for winning - time to lock up key players & add those missing FA pieces. Now - instead of having a $150M payroll ceiling, you now use the savings you collected in the previous 5 years and run a $220M budget. This seems to be the model the Astros and Cubs used over the past 10-15 years. It may not always be about 'tanking' and more about when you spend the money you've allocated to the business.
  10. Brantley has been such a good hitter over the years, but coming off another shoulder surgery is a scary - especially since his power was already eroding so much pre-injury. It's scary for Conforto also, but I think he offers the type of upside the Jays could use (and with our depth, it's easier to sign a risk/reward deal). I worry Benintendi is going to turn his only good season in recent memory into a 4 year deal - so I'm out on him. Conforto 2 Years, $30M with an opt out option after Year 1. It's really an ideal fit as we can offer playing time and a good home park to hit in. I'm also curious what we think Eovaldi is going to get. Assuming we aren't giving Rodon 7 years $175M, than I think Eovaldi is a nice target. More upside than Stripling and we know he can pitch in the AL East.
  11. That's some groundbreaking reporting there from BNS.
  12. They show Ryu making 21 starts. Is that a real possibility this year? TIL we have a guy named Davis Schneider in the system. Should I care? ZIPS thinks he's solid.
  13. Oh great - a new troll...or Dogg has a new account. f***ing wonderful.
  14. Enough with this f***ing nonsense. Go look at the Phillies bullpen. Then the Mets. Then the Cards. Then the Braves. Then the Rays. Then the Yankees. The the Padres. Stupid.
  15. I'd suggest you get used to it if you're going to remain a Jays fan.
  16. Exactly....I don't get those who suggest they better do better this year or Atkins will be gone.
  17. I disagree with this. They inherited an old team that had hung onto competing far too long. The first 3-4 years was spent rebuilding/retooling. The team developed their core tandem of Vlad/Bo and have surrounded them with a lot of young and/or cheap talent: Manoah Kirk Teo (whom they got for free) Jansen Moreno Romano Espinal (whom they got for free) That's 5 All Stars, the #1 prospect in baseball and Danny f***ing Jansen (aka 141 wRC+ Danny Jansen) that they have developed and surrounded the 'big 2' with since their debut in 2019. Obviously Moreno is part of the next wave, as is Zulo, Teids, Barriera, Gabby, Juenger, Macko, Barger, Doughty, etc. There are teams that have 'done it better' than the Jays since 2019 (LA, Cards), but I don't think there are many...
  18. The Big Hurt was special. We'll see if Judge is also special.
  19. I believe it said there have been like 10 players who have played over the age of 37 who were also 275 lbs+ and out of those 10 players, only 1 of them hit a home run - and it was Bartolo Colon (it didn't say how many of the 10 were hitters). So it was a mixture of facts that were also funny Dick. I took it as a joke, but also a little serious as there's simply no precedence for this.
  20. 141 wRC+ hitting catcher and an All Star 2nd baseman Ron. C'mon now.
  21. Did anyone see the MLB Network clip where they were talking about players that were 275 lbs (this was after the Judge signing, as he's like 283 lbs or something). They said there's only been one player over 275 lbs and over the age of 37 to hit a home run at the MLB level.....and it was Bartolo Colon! I can't seem to find the clip, but it was hilarious.
  22. Agreed - still should have dealt Bogey last year
  23. This is a top "Meme of the Year" candidate for the 2022 BJMB Award night.
  24. Can't let this become a Red Sox situation where you let Betts and Bogaerts go and have f***ing Verdugo to show for it.
