  1. I think it would be hilarious to see all 4 major sports teams in Philly lose in the finals this year. And not because I hate Philly or anything at all - just because I doubt that happens often at all (or ever?)
  2. Imagine a crazy world where the Raps would need to reduce tickets costs during more difficult times to help draw more people to games. That would be really nice. I love basketball, but my 3 boys aren't super into it. I'd like to take them down to a game (wanted to go to the Grizzles game in December), but that cost for 4 tickets was f***ing nuts, so I said screw it.
  3. Interesting. I think all of us have a little cave man in us that enjoys watching people try to kill each other on the ice and some fisticuffs. But I must say I really enjoy how much faster the game is now and how there's so much more skill involved. I think it's great for the game and for youth hockey as every kid wants to develop great hands and moves now. There was a long period there were every time there as a big hit or a dirty play, we'd have to watch 2 enforcers (who more often than not weren't even involved in the play) come out for their 3 minutes of ice time that game to have a scripted fight that solved/changed nothing. I hated that era - especially since the fights themselves got shittier. We don't see fights like back in the day with Probert, Domi and Clark where they'd be pounding each other for 30 seconds - all offense, no defense. It's been mostly wrestling and a bunch of missed punches for a long time. I think there's a realization that this is their job and CTE and concussions are real and nobody wants to drink out of a straw for the rest of their lives. I still enjoy a good tilt between 2 players who've been battling all game - but I also think the game can just do without it. Nothing wrong with 2 players just respecting the effort of one another like in the NFL or NBA and not having to finally get so frustrated they have to stop the game to try and punch each other.
  4. Interesting debate as I don't think fans want to see games decided on officiating errors either. But I agree they need to speed up the reviews.
  5. I'm curious what rules you though ruined hockey for you? Eliminating the 2 line pass? Tighter rules against head contact (which has reduced body checking)? Restricting the goalies playing the puck? Shootouts to break ties? These days I'm enjoying the NHL now more than ever - but that could be because my kids all play hockey and they've rekindled my enjoyment of the sport.
  6. Kevin Pillar but he can actually hit.
  7. I think he has FAN FAVOURITE written all over him. Hussle, speed, defense, power. Fans are going to love him.
  8. You have to think Otto has the inside track on the 26th spot, but you never know. Should be fun to watch this spring.
  9. Yeah I'd go with Wynton Bernard also as our 26th man. I also wonder if one of the flame throwing Fernandez's may surprise and grab a spot in the pen. Paul Fry would be my guess if we want another lefty reliver.
  10. We've been so solid for so long that I don't know whether this is true or not. I think the Raps have a really solid fan base, but I certainly could be wrong.
  11. I like that discussion, but expect someone needs to post a list of non-roster invitees to increase participation as most of us are too lazy to find one ourselves.
  12. I think there's certainly potential for this to blow up in their face. However - I think they feel the addition of Poeltl and a Top 10 pick this year (assuming FVV/Trent/Poeltl are extended) + the expected development of Barnes will put them right back in the thick of things in the East. They won't be a top 3 team, but with the Nets selling, there just isn't a lot of talent in the East. Miami is aging, Knicks suck, Atlanta/Chicago continue to underachieve, etc. They likely feel they can battle with Cleveland, Miami and Atlanta (maybe Chicago?) for the 4th or 5th seed - which would push the 2024 pick into the 20's, which is much less valuable. They need some f***ing guards though - good god.
  13. Jesus man - that's a Pandora's box. Thousands of MLB players have cheated throughout the years - including way back when all these 'traditions' you speak of were formed. Best of luck with that and I have to think you're probably alone in the view that allowing pitchers to wear single digit numbers is bad, or even worth discussing.
  14. I read their MLS team also lost the Championship. It would be sad (hilarious) if the 76ers completed the sweep.
  15. Holy f*** - you're such a weapon. I played competitive baseball until I was 40 and now coach multiple rep baseball teams. I'm on the diamond 5-6 times a week in the summer and indoors twice a week all winter. I've been chatting with random strangers on the internet about baseball for the better part of 2 decades and have followed baseball religiously since Ryne Sandberg, Shawn Dunston, Mark Grace and Greg Maddux were playing afternoon games at Wrigley. You don't get to decide if I like baseball. My post was a joke you dipshit (because we all know how f***ing unstable you are). You've helped prove the point, so thanks and happy valentines day.
  16. I think that's why the rest of us know these changes are good for baseball.
  17. Are there any MLB teams that do no allow pitchers to wear single digit numbers? I'm not aware of any.
  18. Sorry, but this sounds like old boomer talk. Robbie Alomar has been banned from MLB for allegations of sexual assault (https://www.thestar.com/sports/bluejays/2022/08/24/roberto-alomar-not-invited-to-blue-jays-30th-world-series-anniversary-celebration.html). He's also spit in an umpires face - so there's a few reasons not to celebrate him. What more do you expect the Jays to do to 'respect the history of the game'? Are you suggesting they shouldn't have let anyone else wear #1 after Tony retired?
  19. No comments on the most important part of the game? Half time show sucked
  20. Agreed, but what an opportunity for Caissie and Palmegiani to play on the big stage. Unlikely they'll have a lot of success, but still an incredible experience.
  21. Happy birthday my friend. Hope you have a great day.
  22. You also probably haven't seen him since 2020...perhaps he packed on the lbs while rehabbing?
  23. Sixto Sánchez (shoulder) said Friday that he's feeling stronger physically and lost 46 pounds over the winter. Best shape of his life? Sánchez underwent surgery on his right shoulder last September to have a bursectomy removed, but he's progressed to throwing bullpen sessions and hopes to land a spot on the Marlins' Opening Day roster. The 24-year-old former top prospect hasn't pitched in the majors since the pandemic-shortened 2020 season, but his offseason training program indicates that he's doing everything he can to get his career back on track. He's a name to watch this spring. Maybe Vlad and Kirk could work out with Sixto next offseason?
  24. Well I hope we have to pay out those escalators...
  25. Ah yes - I'm dumb. I kind of hope Poeltl doesn't immediately lead to a lot of success this year. I'd love to see them keep a Top 10 pick and I guess now we have to resign FVV.
