    Would you guys sign him to a 1 year deal if it meant we had a deal lined up for Dickey that brought back a useful piece? Like a Melancon type of expensive reliever that could allow Sanchez and Osuna to stretch out in AAA?

    I often wonder how AA would be looked at if we didn't go red hot and make the playoffs, outside of an extra 2 weeks of play there is no difference from where we are and where we would have been.

    Its might be worth it when you consider that your trading a backup player in an area of depth for depth in an area we have a need. You also get to save a little bit of money that you could throw at a Blanton type.

    It almost seems to me like Beane tries to hard to win by being different. The fact is, he made a name for himself by being ahead of the curve with advanced analytics but since then the league for the most part has caught up. Now that he is once again at a disadvantage in terms of resources he seems to be squandering a ton of value that most think are dumb.

    Davis only makes sense if you are moving Edwin for something big and even I think you have to clear out Dickey too.

    There is no reason an agent nor a team should be disclosing any details of a negotiation. This is very fishy to me and I think Beeston needs to go retire with dignity rather then slinging mud through your friends.

    The lesson is, make sure you have the management team in place to efficiently use your payroll and I believe they have learned that and is why Shapiro is here now.
