  1. Like almost every year, the Braves are in this to win it. Upton is a very good player. And if he walks, they get a comp pick. They may deal for a starter or something, but unless we blow them away with prospects I don't see the Braves doing a trade. Just my two cents.
  2. Uh, no. It'd take three prospects to pry him free. Maybe 4.
  3. I also like the Martin, Aoki combo....but it'd be great to sign both Martin and Cabrera. If there was a way to offload MB, and get one of the young pups to start in his place, I'd be so happy. MB is good for 12 wins, 4 ERA, but Sanchez or someone might do better and then we'd save a bit of money. I know we'd eat 80% of MB's last year.
  4. Totally agree. Do you think Jed Lowrie would be a fairly reasonable signing for 2B? Izturis could play super-sub. Lawrie, barring injury, mans 3B. This would not stretch the payroll too much, and perhaps allow for a Cabrera re-sign in LF. Plus, with MB gone, one of the young pups has a chance to make some noise.
  5. 2014 was an outlier for dingers. He's good help for the 'pen.
  6. I hope they suck, and we get a weak sister to beat up during the regular season like all the other division have. Also, then Maddon may not be retained and maybe the Jays hire him (although I would bet my life that the Dodgers sign him after 2015). And I also hope that attendance dwindles to nothing so they will move to Montreal. Can you imagine the Expos and Jays both in the AL East? Fun, fun.
  7. That would honestly be awesome.
  8. I love this story, too. Just a feel good baseball story. If I was a KC fan, I'd live This guy forever.
  9. This guy presents fans like me, who follow the team closely, with some clarity. AA doesn't want to trade too many farm assets for MLB-ready players. I get it, especially after the Miami and Mets trades. This last season, for deadline purposes, AA said the only trades available were ones that created holes on the current roster. I get it, don't make those trades. But here is a guy who, I presume, will be declared a FA and not need to be drafted. Nor will he cost players of any type. Just money. AA and f***ing Beeston have maintained that when the opportunity is available, money will be available. Well, in my mind, here's that opportunity. If AA doesn't win this bidding war, then I am officially convinced the Jays admin has been lying and is not really trying to win. Heady stuff.
  10. And he's a Jays killer. I don't have the stats, but I think he's batting a million against us.
  11. Holy s***, really? I thought the Yanks might back up the Brinks truck for him. But you know, they might consider trading for Reyes. I know we have no one to replace him, but if we wanted to shed payroll to get other players, the Yanks might be a partner.
  12. No biggee, I pitch and had this surgery when I was 38. My velo went from 85 mph to 72 mph and my arm hurt like a damn and couldn't extend all the way. After spurs were removed and I was cleaned I was actually better than ever. Velo isn't always affected, I've been told, but stamina sure is. After surgery I could pitch 150 times and not feel sore. Before, after 20 pitches, I wanted to cry. So anyway, this guy is 20 years younger than me and a real athlete. He'll be fine. But then again, I thought that last year after JJ had simple arm clean up surgery. Leading to the Padres signing him.
  13. While not entirely PC, Alomar's mockery of the tomahawk chop would be fantastic
  14. I'll add Tom Henke and Tony Fernandez...but if you don't think they make the cut I totally understand. Just two favourites of mine.
  15. You took the handle I wanted! lol I'm from Saskatoon, you?
  16. At least you have plenty of alone time to figure it all out.
  17. I was a little surprised McGowan's value was so negative. I thought he'd be even steven with his low salary.
  18. I'm beginning to suspect Moogy is unemployed.
  19. Unless the Jays FO makes it their mission to help bring his family over as part of the deal. Think stuff like that happens?
  20. Didn't Janssen's production falter after his really bad flu where he lost 15 pounds? I think he had issues coming back from that more than frustration regarding the last of trade deadline action.
  21. It works out well that a bunch of the guys with negative value are FA's or can have their asses bought out after this season. Very lucky.
  22. I get what they did in 2014 by standing pat. They already had a high payroll, were in first place for a while, starting pitching seemed to really click, etc. But now it has to be clear that there are holes. DFA infielders, no matter how many you hoard, cannot replace a good 2B that can provide positive WAR. Honestly, if they don't pick up a plus infielder somehow, plus re-sign Cabrera, or at the very minimum a Cabrera-lite candidate like Aoki *and* pick up 1-2 guys for the 'pen, no one will trust this admin anymore. Standing pat sort of made sense for 2014, after going all in for 2013, but 2015 is a different landscape.
  23. Do you see girls when you reply to posts from dudes a lot? There may be other issues involved here, mom's basement dweller.
  24. Trying too hard again. Not funny. Hulk smash? Call your mom down to check out these posts...
  25. Oh, you're the grammar cop on the board. Good to know. And also a junior MMA fighter. Lastly, mom's basement dweller. That's three titles. Cool.
