  1. A Kansas City Royals called "I got it" in game 2 against Toronto and caused a ball to drop in for a hit. The umpire possibly robbed the Blue Jays of a win in game 6 with a strike call against Revere that was obviously a ball. A Kansas City Royals fan caught a ball in game 6 that became a home run that might have been a double (and he became a celebrity at the game). I feel bad for Volquez, but I am rooting against the rest of the Kansas City Royals and their fans. Go Mets, win the series in 4 straight so I don't have to see Kansas City on TV anymore.
  2. I would expect the transition to the AL to be somewhat more difficult since they don't get to face a pitcher once every 9 batters in the AL (at least for the first 5 to 6 innings until pinch-hitters are inserted).
  3. Maybe in a couple of years once he has pitched more innings and is older. He started 7 games at A level (Dunedin Blue Jays) but doesn't have much of a history as a starter - http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=13764&position=P Osuna has already had Tommy John surgery in 2013 - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roberto_Osuna With his lack of innings as a starter and injury in 2013, I doubt that the Blue Jays will take a chance on Osuna re-injuring his arm by asking him to start in 2016.
  4. All I can say, is that after the current season, Blue Jay fans have come to expect more than a 0.500 record and will turn away in record numbers if that is all they offer. On the other hand, another AL East division title will probably result in an attendance of 3,200,000 in 2016 (quite easily considering the crowds they were getting once they became a good team).
  5. It seems to me that just keeping the current lineup would improve the 2016 win total over 2015 since they were playing at a 0.495 clip (50-51) before Tulowitzki played his first game and 0.705 (43-18) after all the trades took place (to the end of the regular season). A .705 clip over an entire year would be 114 wins, which is a 21 game improvement just with their current roster. However, it is unlikely that the Blue Jays could play at .705 clip over an entire season. Not resigning David Price but signing a .500 pitcher will probably result in a difference of 3 - 4 games in the standings (based on the fangraphs projection of a 16-9 record next year for David Price - http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=3184&position=P), which could very well be the difference between getting into the playoffs and not getting in. In my opinion, the extra revenue will more than offset resigning David Price.
  6. I don't know much about him, what are his strengths? Would having a solid infield behind him help with his performance?
  7. One pitcher who has been mentioned is Jeff Samardzija (nicknamed Shark). His stats in 2015: http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=3254&position=P 6.86 K/9, 2.06 BB/9, 1.22 HR/9, 1.26 WHIP, 4.96 ERA, he seems to have trouble by letting too many base-runners score with a 67.2 LOB% Samardzija's stats aren't much better than Hutchison's stats. Hutchison's stats in 2015: http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=10732&position=P 7.72 K/9, 2.63 BB/9, 1.32 HR/9, 1.48 WHIP, 5.57 ERA, Hutchison also has trouble by letting too many base-runners score with a 64.5% LOB%
  8. I don't know what is wrong with Hutchison, his numbers aren't that bad, but his LOB% (left on base %) is terrible at 64.5% - http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=10732&position=P which really elevates his ERA. Happ's LOB% is 75.4% and Estrada's is 79.2%. If Hutchison can work things out then he has the potential to consistently pitch good games.
  9. I certainly hope that the Blue Jays will get Marco Estrada back. I also hope they will get David Price (although it will cost them). I assume that Dickey will be back. I liked how J.A. Happ pitched while he was in Toronto and I would be happy to see him back again. His numbers for this year (2015) with Seattle and Pittsburgh were: 7.90 K/9, 2.35 BB/9, 1.27 WHIP, 0.84 HR/9, 3.61 ERA - http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=7410&position=P this compares favourably with Marco Estrada's stats for 2015 - http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=1118&position=P. However, I would give the edge to Estrada based on WHIP and ERA 6.51 K/9, 2.73 BB/9, 1.04 WHIP, 1.19 HR/9, 3.13 ERA I could see a pitching rotation of: Price Stroman Estrada Happ Dickey (maybe)
  10. I will be rooting for the Mets. I haven't watched the World Series for many years but I have a renewed interest since I want Kansas City to lose.
  11. I don't understand it. I love having Ben Revere on the team and want him back in 2016. Ben is already planning to work his tail off in the off-season to finish the job in 2016. Ben Revere is the type of character guy that the Blue Jays need.
  12. The game last night was exciting. The 9th inning bad call on Revere kept me waking up last night; that angered me. I don't think that Bautista threw to the wrong base as stated by David Schoenfield, he was trying to limit Hosmer to a single (which he did) when he threw to Tulowitzki at 2nd. Martin said after the game that Tulowitzki didn't get a good grip on the ball and that a better throw probably would have gotten Cain at the plate. The Blue Jays had so many chances to score runs and couldn't come through, except for Bautista. Dalton Pompey showed that he needs to be on the major league roster in 2016. I had forgotten how fast he was. Perhaps he can start the 2016 season as the 4th outfielder and then a spot will open up as it did for Pillar this season. This has been an exciting season and I am looking forward to next season. The post season experience should give the Blue Jay players and their fans a lot of confidence in 2016.
  13. Now for the Accuweather forecast - http://www.accuweather.com/en/us/kansas-city-mo/64106/hourly-weather-forecast/329441 It looks like a nice evening for baseball in KC, at least for the first couple of hours. The weather doesn't look like it should negatively affect David Price's performance (it isn't cold) and he will probably have pitched 80 - 100 pitches before there is any chance of thundershowers. I am looking forward to the game. I am hoping for a Blue Jays win, but if not, then I hope that it will be a close, exciting game. As is always the case, an early lead will greatly improve the Blue Jays chances, especially with Price pitching.
  14. That is a very good reason for missing games. According to this link the survival rate is 85% at 26 weeks - http://www.easybabylife.com/premature-survival-rates.html . Hopefully all will be well with the baby. Is Loup in the lineup tonight? It would be understandable if he wasn't.
  15. If you click reply with quote to this post you will see the format. The number comes from the copy tweet link which is the ... (three dots under the tweet)
  16. He did look tense, but maybe he is just anxious to get down there and start pitching game 6.
  17. I found this following table that I thought was interesting. It shows the historical record of teams in the NBA, NHL and MLB for a 7 game series when one team is up 3 games to 2. http://www.whowins.com/tables/up32.html
  18. I like the idea. It worked before; it will probably give Tulowitzki an extra at bat, and moving Ben Revere down to the number 9 spot will take the pressure off him. With Tulowitzki in the number 1 spot the Blue Jays have a hitter who can drive runners in from the bottom of the lineup when they get on. But I am sure Gibbons won't do it.
  19. Estrada was amazing tonight. What a great game. The Kansas City Royals didn't look so frightening tonight. David Price has the talent to do the same thing to the Royals Friday night to send it to a game 7 against Stroman. Everybody is happy again :D :D :D
  20. Did, I? I am getting old and forgetful - can you quote the previous post?
  21. I don't think fans should be hoping for the Blue Jays to win 3 straight. Just hope for a win tomorrow. If they do win game 5, then hope that the Blue Jays will be competitive in game 6; if by some minor miracle they win game 6 then game 7 will be a toss up.
  22. I should shut this game off but then I might miss the best comeback in the history of baseball (not likely, but still ...)
  23. Thank you, that was a decent response. Go ahead and vent, but it is just baseball.
  24. I think that it should be Estrada and then David Price if necessary. They will have to do everything to win.
