  1. Norris has a track record of dominating the minor leagues, Hoffman has been nothing but mediocre at an older age, i literally can't see how you think Norris is a pile of s*** and Hoffman is a stud in the making.
  2. Is Pompey any less valuable than Syndergaard was at the time. I don't like Castro and Hoffman so i have no complaints but Pompey is another story.
  3. There's a decent minority of us that are skeptical of Hoffman, it has nothing to do with the trade
  4. We're selling high on Hoffman, its like some of you haven't even looked at his minor league numbers.
  5. Hoffman isn't even "Hoffman good", Wilner doesn't know what the f*** he's talking about
  6. ZiPS WAR and salaries for Jose Reyes. RoS 15: 0.9/$7 mil, 2.0/$22 mil, 1.8/$22 mil, $4 mil buyout taken. ZiPS WAR and salaries for Troy Tulowitzki: RoS 2015: 1.7/$7 mil, 2016 4.7/$20 mil, '17 4.1/20, '18 3.7/20, '19 3.2/20 '20 2.8/14, 21 2.4/15 ZiPS has Tulo contract value at +$40 million. Reyes at -$20 million. So you could argue they just bought Miguel Castro for $60 million. If Castro is the main piece going the other can't see anyone cannot like this.
  7. ZiPS WAR and salaries for Jose Reyes. RoS 15: 0.9/$7 mil, 2.0/$22 mil, 1.8/$22 mil, $4 mil buyout taken.
  8. Are you being sarcastic because there's a lot of truth to that, people have higher and tougher standards for many Latin and Black players.
  9. This is what i'm talking about, people like to highlight the flaws of the player they don't like and tend to lose perspective, no one got it worse than Reyes, atleast not since like Rios.
  10. Its wierd though, people wanted him to be a perfect well rounded player when he wasn't. We're okay with guys being solid and not stars but not with everyone.
  11. I do agree that Reyes was treated poorly by the fans and media though, he wasn't a star but despite his flaws he was a valuable player. I didn't give two shits about his personality, not that there was anything wrong with it to begin with
  12. Who cares he's terrible, that idiot general manager of ours someone convinced himself that a guy who couldn't even dominate A ball was somehow major league ready
  13. Miguel Castro if f***ing useless, that would be awesome if he was the main piece
  14. I think you're overestimating what he was, his final year with the Mets was good but mostly BABIP driven. His 2010 season was mediocre and he was injured for almost all of 2009. So before the trade Reyes only had one really good season in the previous four, Tulo has had three if we're penalizing both guys for injuries. We'll have to agree to disagree if you think Reyes at the time of the trade was as valuable as Tulo is now.
  15. Reyes with the Marlins wasn't the peak Reyes with the Mets. His hamstring injuries already turned him into a mediocre defender and his best offensive days were behind him. Im not one of those guys that shits on Reyes all time, i don't even mind but he wasn't the equivalent of Tulo now. If you look at that trade we didn't give up prospects for him, the surplus value was for Johnson, how the f*** is any of this similar to that trade?
  16. Just Stop. Reyes was a salary dump, the prospects we gave up were for Josh Johnson.
  17. Sorry if i am across as an *******. Its just that I really don't think much of this team and i'm strongly against AA being allowed to mortgage the future just to save his ass. And this run differential nonsense is being used a prime example to "go for it". I'm 99% sure that AA will be fired if we miss the playoffs, the new President and GM should be allowed to impose their own vision on the team and that means keeping the prospect cupboard filled and not saddling them with an old team that has no more than .500 potential. So in a way Rogers penny pinching has been helpful, AA can't make many trades with taking on atleast some salary so his ability to make trades is limited but you never know with him.
  18. Run differential is only a measure of the effect of luck IN THE PAST, it has little predictive value for what it says about the future. Even when measuring past luck its a flawed statistic, baseruns vs actual runs is a more valid way to measure bad luck/good luck and they say the Jays have been unlucky but not as much as the run differential would have you believe. And having a positive run differential in the past does not mean that your team will start playing better, its frustrating to see even smart people promote this kind of thinking. A positive run differential means nothing, it has no predictive value, only projections do and they say the Jays are a .500 team with a marginal shot at the second wildcard and a slim hope at the division. The Jays excellent run differential so far doesn't mean they'll be a good team moving forward, it doesn't even mean they'll be a decent team.
  19. not really though, if you replaced Estrada or Doubront with Price that's a ~1.5 - 2 win bump, would probably boost our division odds to 25% and wildcard odds to 30%. We'd still be facing an uphill battle in making the ALDS. I'm not asking for a 100% shot or anything but i don't think it makes sense to trade away the future unless you atleast have a 50% shot at the division.
  20. Fangraphs has it closer to 30%, and only a small portion of that is for the division. The Jays have a 1 in 5 shot of making the wildcard playoff, their odds of making it to the ALDS is around 10%. A 10% shot at a playoff series with a .500 talent team should not translate to buyers, i don't understand fans who even think about trading guys like Pompey, Norris, Alford etc for a faint hope.
  21. I love Bautista but his bitching about the strike zone is so irritating, its fine to get in an umpire's face every now and then but to throw a hissy fit everytime you think they wrong you is just annoying.
  22. Some battles cannot be won my friend, there is literally no argument or set of arguments you can come up with that will change the minds of people who think this highly of Sanchez.
  23. Here's the equation Guererro - DeJong - Lacastro + 1 one year penalty vs Guerrero + 2 years penalty vs player X at our slot value We got the worst of both worlds and there are people seriously arguing about this, how is this anything but a mistake. If you think Guererro is an unprecedented prospect then fine but that's the only justification, otherwise this is the greek fat f*** being himself again.
