  1. I know you're joking but WAR is decieving because it uses FIP. Shields has had a HR/FB% problem, he's having a very good season actually, 3.36 xFIP, his best over the last three years
  2. Its very unlikely, they gotta 10-3 against the Yankees alone and then keep up with them for the rest of the season.
  3. They gotta go 10-3 or at worst 9-4 against the Yankees, need a lot of things to go our way.
  4. Yeah, its not so much as going deep into the playoffs as getting Rogers to see the market potential and in turn start investing more on the team. If the Jays have 10 sellouts and draw big numbers on TV in September than that will go a long way, an appearance in the ALDS is just gravy.
  5. Ventura is the worst, a lot of this bickering and tough guy act is in good fun but Ventura is something else, he's only been around a couple of years but he's gotta be the most unlikable guy in Baseball right now. A-Rod and Ortiz at their peaks have nothing on this guy, the definition of a douche.
  6. That's a pretty horrible return for Revere, although i am glad for once the fat greek did not get us ripped off
  7. I don't like the trade but we lost Hoffman, Castro and Norris, that's hardly gutting the system. There's good reasons to believe Hoffman isn't even a top 5 Jays prospect and Castro not even a top 10. To me gutting would be a bottom 3 system which the Jays are probably not, Pompey, Alford, Tellez and SRF are still a good prospect core. Losing Norris hurts though, if we're moving pieces for a rental, i would have preferred Sanchez and maybe another overrated guy like Urena
  8. The Yankees are projected to be a better team ROS and they have a 7 game lead on us. Fangraphs gives us a 7.6% shot at the division. Like i said we'll need to go on a legendary run to catch them
  9. Didn't he go to arbitration every year? Yeah, its laughable people think Price would even consider an in season deal
  10. It doesn't work that way, the Jays with Price are only 1.5-2 wins better, the Yankees are still a considerably better team. They'll have to go on a pretty spectacular run and outperform their talent to win the division
  11. Most people don't seem to think so, the problem is, the fat greek thinks he's a really good pitcher.
  12. Why couldn't it be that bum Sanchez instead of Norris?
  13. no Alford is a little easy to swallow but Norris but for 11 Price starts is still hard to accept
  14. Wow, i was happy with the Tulo trade but this is scary. Its f***ing nuts, a .500 team does not need and should need David Price. Castro and Hoffman were incredibly overrated but Norris is a legit talent and throwing in Alford seems to be a worse overpayment than Syndergaard and d'Arnaud
  15. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/troy-tulowitzki-the-blue-jays-and-upgrading-strengths/
  16. not defending this trade one way or the other but the idea that "we don't need another bat" is wrong. The point is to outscore the other team, a run scored is the same as a run prevented. If the Jays can upgrade at LF or 1B{altbough i like Pompey and Smoak) at a cheaper price than they can upgrade the rotation it would help the team just as much. The Jays don't just need to pitch better, they need to be a better team overall, it doesn't matter how you do it I personally like the trade because i'm not a believer of either CAstro or Hoffman, if it was Pompey and Norris it would be a different story but i don't think we give up long term big leaguer in this trade.
  17. Thanks for the therapy session, i didn't know i was getting that when i was replying to idiotic posts.
  18. and that's a conservative estimate i think. The team just isn't that motivated about it, if they do go through with it it'll take 5+ years imo
  19. You acted like i said the craziest thing in the world, the kind of thing LTBF would say. And calling someone an ******* doesn't mean you're torn up about it, its just an observation.
  20. no it hasn't, a quick search on Google Scholar and even just reading a couple of abstracts will make that clear. Turf has a bad reputation but its not based on actual science.
  21. You are wrong, and morever you were being an ******* when i said Pompey is worth more than a top 50 guy, considering how obvious that statement is. Syndergaard wasn't a can't miss prospect when we traded him, many had Sanchez ahead of him, he was ranked in the 25-50 range, either lower or pretty much where Pompey is right now. And you actually said that Syndergaard was worth more than Pompey and Alford combined.
  22. Studies have shown that there actually isn't a relationship between incidence of lower body injuries and turf. I know that's a whole other debate, psychologically its a big deal because turf has that stigma but otherwise, its really not that bad.
  23. Pompey was ranked #29 in the BA midseason rankings, can someone tell me what the f*** this guy is talking about.
  24. qualifying offer to Buerhle and maybe a pick from that, but that's got nothing to do with the trade. Wilner's just being a goofball
  25. That's absurd, Pompey alone is worth more than a top 50 guy.
