  1. Its a 60-40 series, don't get carried away.
  2. "The Jays got Price to not just pitch in this ballgame but to win, there's a big difference between those two" Thanks Tabler I watch the games on mute a lot so i might have missed many stupid things Tabler says but this has gotta be up there right?
  3. Arbitrators almost never give out league minimum salaries no matter how terrible of a season you have.
  4. Well his value overwhelmingly comes from fielding and baserunning where the metrics do have a high variance. We know he he's talented at both but he might not be this good. However, even accounting for possible regression he still might be a solid ~2.5 guy. I'd keep him around as well, he'll cost you very little and he might not have what we consider fair value on teh open market.
  5. I love the whole "making our American dollars" thing, like him and the rest of the good ole boys are doing them(non American players) a favor out of the generosity of their hearts. Latin and Japanese players get imported because they're good and have earned their price tags, because there's a demand for their services. They are under no obligation, legally or otherwise to adopt a certain kind of values. It might be a different story when we're talking about them getting American citizenship but just to play baseball, they don't owe anyone anything. I don't think there is anything i hate more in the MLB than the good ole boy culture that many want to keep around, its sickening. I hope we're not seeing some kind of a trend, given this issue, the Lance Berkman thing and the support Papelbon has got from some of the players
  6. hmm, i haven't heard of that. I'm suspicious though, what would Rogers get out of it? A share of the MLB.TV revenue from Canadian subscribers? And would MLB even go for that, they'd have to give up a lot of money to make it worthwhile for Rogers.
  7. I think MLB.TV will be issue free for Canadian customers this postseason However i wouldn't say that licensing and blackout issues have been taken care of in the long term. Rogers for whatever reason has chosen not to enforce online blackouts, they can change their mind at any time without informing people who have already paid for MLB.TV. I have a bad feeling that they'll soon(maybe next year) choose to enforce their blackout rights on MLB.TV and instead start ramp up the marketing efforts for their own online streaming platform that exists if you have a Rogers subscription.
  8. If Tanaka goes in the WC game he'll be limited to one appearance in the ALDS, unless he pitches on two days rest which won't happen obviously, that's a pretty sweet deal along with homefield in the ALCS, same goes for whoever the Astros throw in the WC. On the other hand the Yankees are probably a better team than the Rangers and you'll risk facing them as the number 1 seed
  9. Osuna's flyball problems are still a bit worrying, he has to cutdown his fastball% significantly, more sliders and changeups please.
  10. If you look at comparables like Crawford and Ellsbury and account for age they will. Even a seven year contract only runs until he's 34, the reduction in risk is very important and teams will pony up for that http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/estimating-jason-heywards-next-contract/
  11. Heyward won't be an undervalued asset in the least. He'll be a 26 year old free agent with 25 WAR under his belt, he'll be highly sought after.
  12. Teams also pay a premium for youth when it comes to FA, Heyward is almost unprecedentedly young for a free agent. He's looking at 150 million minimum, that's just Ellsbury money and Heyward is three years younger. 200 million is on the cards and wouldn't be shocking in any way
  13. Stroman probably done for the day Final line 4 IP 6 K 1BB no hits
  14. Stroman with his 5th K , he's mowing em down
  15. The last ten games feature on the MILB player page has a glitch in it, it actually shows the first 10 games. You have the numbers right though, Pompey is not on a cold streak.
  16. Really, maybe i need to watch a replay but that looked like a rocket that was gonna get to the wall and Brantley got there right in time
  17. Brantley cutting off that Encarnacion double was the gamechanger there. A subtle but perfect example of what great defence even in LF can do, 25 out of 30 leftfielders don't make that play..
  18. Well to be fair the Red Sox are coming off of 2 disappointing seasons in a row. I wouldn't be surprised if Shapiro keeps AA around. And AA probably wants to be around, he's unlikely to be looking at a promotion to President and the GM openings around the league aren't that enticing. I'll be okay with whatever Shapiro wants to do, keep AA or if he wants to go out and hire a young AGM somewhere
  19. Uhm, we lost the division by 23 games! Bad luck had little to do with what happened that season.
  20. Also for the record, AA was handed a pretty good big league team, coming off an 86 win year. Granted they still finished 4th but you don't get to excuse the first two years because they're rebuilding years when the decision to rebuild was AA's in teh first place. He could have easily chosen to retool and tried to compete with Halladay. MAybe we wouldn't have been better off(although the ultimate return on the Halladay trade suggests that we would have) but AA made an active choice to tear it down, it was not inevitable.
  21. One 90 win season(knock on wood!) in 5 years and a bottom 10 farm system. For every Donaldson trade there's a Syndergaard trade and for every Travis trade there's a Gomes trade. A GM isn't just responsible for the sucess of the big league club in a given year. If we were to rank how every organization did in the last 5 years, not just in wins and playoff success but also accumulation of assets and getting value for the buck, do you think the Jays would be in the top 15 ? I somehow doubt it. Just because AA's successes have been backloaded doesn't mean he deserves an extention. Shapiro should be given complete freedom to hire who ever he wants. AA hasn't done enough to be given immunity under new management.
  22. Yes Buck is bad but it doesn't bother me too much, i watch the games on mute most of the time anyways.
  23. compensation might be a moot point anyways, his contract might be expiring or he and Antonetti might end up getting canned.
