I'm gonna be one of the posters in this thread who will look stupid and i could't be happier. Sanchez showed me everything today, decent command of the FB, a CB that was consistently effective and and flashes of a plus changeup. Hope he keeps this up.

on the margins maybe you can't go from a guy with literally no command to a guy with average command, that is not what usually happens.

Sanchez when he starts is one of the worst in baseball, so yes he can improve but so can every other failed starter or position players who don't make it, that's not really saying much. NJH is simply right in that the optimists are seeing what they want to see with Sanchez I do agree with the premise of the thread, i do hope Sanchez discovered something and makes us "haters" look silly.

The Jays odds of making the playoffs have gone up 5.5% just from the 2-0 start. Given how many intra division games the Jays have in April, it is an unusually important month. A good April could draw us even with the Red Sox or maybe even surprass them if we do well in the 7 games against them this month. -
Well he made it up with some ugly drafts since then. I think its hard to make the case that under AA, the Jays were anything but average.

no you don't. Most of these picks were made as hail marys because they were borderline impossible signs. Its not like other teams didn't see the talent, they just didn't want to bother with these tough signs. You don't get credit for those, besides almost every high college pick at some point was also a HS pick that failed to sign with an MLB team. I would guess the Jays under AA were not really special in terms of their HS picks that failed to sign turning into special college players.

He averaged 96.2 on 4 seamers last year so yeah the velocity is a bit of a concern edit: that was the max, he averaged 94.1, my bad. He off by a mile or so, not that big of a deal this early in teh season

On that last reply Pillar seems to have gotten his non glove hand first on the padding, probably absorbed alot of energy before his head hit the wall.

Pillar should be taken out, did Gibby and the rest of the staff not see a replay of what happened ? He hit his head pretty hard, no excuse for not pulling him

Russell given his age and injury histories already has too high of a workload, someone has to play those 35-40 games a season and Thole is fine by any backup catcher standards. and wow Pillar!

Its a real day off for Martin. Lets not do this all season please, Martin's gonna have a heavy workload so don't bitch about Thole. He's fine for what he is a, a backup catcher, you're not supposed to have all starts here for god's sake.
