Did you seriously need to ask that? We gave $3.5 million to Martinez. We obviously have no money to sign either of the Mesa brothers.
-
Reed Johnson was a complete slap hitter. What kind of crap comparison is that? Maybe McKinney out of HS would fit that profile, but not his power-oriented new approach.
-
Its very obvious that they would have traded most of these guys much earlier. If anything, the fact that he's now supposedly considering going to the Mets which are in a worse spot than us and have even worse ownership should point signals to the idea that he's probably not very happy getting thrown onto a landmine over decisions that they never wanted to make in the first place. If he leaves, things are very wrong with Rogers and yet the casual morons will probably be celebrating the departure without understanding what the actual situation is.
-
Yeah, we're going to get more for an injured version of him with 1 month left on his contract than we gave up for him with years of control left in his prime.
-
Solid guess. Big power + exit velo guy. Obviously has holes in the swing.
-
Eric Pardinho got bombed by the Rays. On the flipside, Shane Baz didn't fare a whole lot better in the first inning.

It says that Miami wouldn't do a deal with us unless Vlad was in it. Once we said no, they imediately went with Milwaukee's offer. I.E: saskjayfan is stupid. -

The human stomach has a pH of ~1.5, which is extremely acidic. It secretes hydrochloric acid and pepsin. The hydrochloric acid denatures proteins and the pepsin acts as a digestive enzyme, it does nothing to break down plant matter. Every herbivore has a high pH (ie: alkaline) stomach. They FERMENT plant matter using microorganisms to extract its nutrients, which we do not do. When you ingest raw plants, they don't get broken down enough and end up sitting in your bowels (where you do very little digestion) and hence most of the nutrients are unabsorbed and you end up with shits that visibly look green or have pieces of plant matter. Ever notice how meat, despite being much more dense, never magically shows up undigested in your feces? -

You know nothing. Go eat a giant salad. When you s*** it out, what do you think all the still present plant matter in your feces is? Its undigested plant matter....because we aren't meant to digest it LMFAO. Why do you think the Chinese cook all of their vegetables? Because they understand that its the only way to make it digestible. The problem being that cooking vegetables kills all the nutrients in it anyway. Notice how vegans and vegetarians live off smoothies, juices, etc? All attempts to make plant matter more digestible. You can eat raw meat and absorb all the nutrients from it by comparison, assuming that its real meat (I see that a few of you seem to be shifting the argument towards commercialized grocery meat...no you idiots, humans weren't meant to live off of that either). When I say "meat", I'm talking about a primal diet that would mean healthy wild animals. Not a bioengineered Chicken fed got knows what. Your digestive tract is nothing like a herbivores. Jesus Christ, our education system is non-existent. How can we possibly be herbivores when there are something like 7+ essential vitamins/nutrients that are nowhere to be found in plant foods? On the contrary, there is nothing essential to your life that you can't find in some part of the animal (organs, fats, eggs, milk, etc). You are warped into believing that meat is just protein and fats while plants and vegetables provide everything else. Animal liver is loaded with more DIGESTIBLE vitamins and minerals than any plant. Then there is vitamin B12 which only exists in animal products, and seaweed (which in nature is obviously only available to a small population of humans). Creatine, vitamin K, etc, etc. are all the same. -

So without domesticated farming you wouldn't be able to hunt wild game like wild boar? What a retarded argument. I never said that today's bastardization of commercial livestock wasn't made more convenient. An animal is still an animal however, and you still wouldn't be able to eat oranges in December you idiot even if they did exist (they didn't: oranges are a man-made hybrid). -

The fruits you find in your supermarket are entirely man-made through decades of cross-cultivation. They don't exist in nature. You think "Golden Delicious" apples are natural? Wild apples taste like s*** and you'd have next to zero instinct to eat them in the wild. The fruits you eat are all engineered to pack as much fructose as possible (because sugar is a highly addictive drug), and fructose like all sugars is horrendous for you and will rot your teeth (go look at all the "fruititarian" dipshits with rotting teeth in their late 20's and early 30's LOL). The human body requires minimal amounts of carbs which it can actually produce from protein and fats through gluconeogenesis, so there goes that argument. Use some common sense; unless you came from the tropics you'd only be able to find fruits in SEASON for a few months of the year in nature. What fruits are you going to find in the dead of the Canadian winter? Watermelons? Mangos? LOL. At best these are "once in a while" food sources as evidenced by the human body's adverse digestive reactions to overeating them (diarrhea, bloating, reflux, etc) and yet your "food guides" will try and tell you that these are things that you should be loading into your diet every day when its a sheer logistical impossibility in nature, and not biologically supported either. The digestive tract argument is far more important than the teeth argument (which is absurdly stupid). Your front teeth can in fact tear flesh. Humans also possess hands and fingers which can serve the same purpose, that other carnivores do not. Yes, you are an "omnivore", but the story that you are told is completely wrong. You are not programmed to be a 50/50 "ominivore" which is what the term seemingly implies, and even worse that is now shifting through manipulation to suggest that ~75+% of your diet should supposedly come from grains (never eat these), legumes (LOL), and plants and fruits. The bulk of your diet should come from real animal products. Every civilization in history understood this, which is why they'd value animal foods over everything else when given the option. It is virtually impossible to become overweight on a ketogenic diet, and yet in today's society with obesity and heart disease through the roof you are told to limit meat intake to things like skinless chicken breast, and load up on "heart healthy" whole grains LOL. In nature, the first things that humans consume is fat and organs as they are the most nutritious. Even herbivores like cows take plants (grass) and CONVERT it to saturated fats which they then utilize. All you need to look at is raw human behaviour. Why is it that you find that infants, toddlers, and young children are absolutely disgusted by plants and vegetables which are supposedly "the most nutritious" foods (as you are told)? It makes no evolutionary sense for something that you are supposedly meant to survive on to taste disgusting, and that is exactly how young children view most plant matter. The only reason why people eat things like spinach, kale etc. is because they are TOLD it is "healthy". There is no biological urge to eat these plants, and alas in nature which is filled with plant matter you understand that 99+% of it is completely inedible or will make you horribly sick, whereas you can eat almost every animal known to man and draw nutrition from it...even insects. -

There is huge amounts of vitamin C in liver, particularly raw liver. Nothing is more nutritious than liver. -

6'0 150. Everything you've been taught about nutrition is wrong. Fruits and vegetables are only useful as cleansers; they provide next to zero nutrition as the majority of "vitamins" present are indigestible. Plants are also loaded with anti-nutrients and other chemicals that are produced to cause harm to your biology (like any living thing they don't want to be eaten). The human digestive system looks nothing like anything seen in nature that processes plant matter. It is a carnivorous digestive system, and the pH of the human stomach (it is extremely acidic) actually compares more closely to scavengers like vultures than to plant-eating gorillas or other herbivores which have alkaline stomachs to ferment plant matter (this actually suggests that we very likely evolved the ability to eat decaying raw meat). The natural diet of humans is RAW MEAT (particularly organs), eggs, whole milk, etc, etc. All of your organs are reliant on saturated fats and cholesterol; something like over 50% of all the cells in your body are made from cholesterol, so how ridiculous do you think "low cholesterol" diets really are? All your sex hormones are produced from cholesterol, and since reproduction is the base driving force to life, this should tell you what importance cholesterol plays in your biology. Its really no surprise that infertility is all of a sudden a problem in today's society; who the f*** was infertile 100 years ago when the diet was loaded with animal fats, eggs, real whole milk, cheese, etc? Low fat, high carbohydrate "health diets" are a conspiracy to keep you sick which is why they are advocated by the drug companies. There is no such thing as an essential carbohydrate to the human body. I'm semi-convinced that the vegan conspiracy is a form of population control: veganism leads to infertility, so even if you do survive (ie: don't keel over and die from malnutrition) your chance of reproducing is minimal. -

There is nothing feeding the brain on a vegan diet. These people literally develop mental illness: aggressiveness, anxiety, paranoia, depression, etc. -

This LOL. There isn't a bigger con out there. Fruits and vegetables are not good for you. Grains and all sugars are poison. The human body is designed to run on animal products; particularly cholesterol and saturated fats. -

Josh Donaldson hasn't been an "elite" defender since 2015, and with two seasons of nagging lower body injuries added on top of his normal defensive decline the reality is that he's likely an average at best defender at 3B moving forward, if that. -
Kendrys Morales is bad, let's complain about him ITT
metafour replied to Dick_Pole's topic in Toronto Blue Jays Talk
June: 116 wRC+ July: 178 wRC+ August: 139 wRC+ He's on a 3 month "hot streak"? Morales was a 131 and 111 wRC+ hitter the two seasons prior to us signing him. He's hitting 115 wRC+ this season. To me, that would indicate that his 97 wRC+ season last year is the obvious outlier, not whatever he's doing now. Is he a superstar hitter? Obviously not, but this is what they were expecting when they signed him, and its in line with his career ability. -
Its the definition of first world problems. There are ~7.6 billion people on this planet, the idea that every person alive is going to have this cute Utopian cookie-cutter set of beliefs that "you" (Keith Law in this case) believe to be morally just is absurd. In this case, the "thought crime" is about as insignificant as you can get as Murphy has already clarified that he doesn't care what gay people do; which means that at worst he is a person who is tolerant yet holds an opinion that isn't nice, and to that: who gives a s***? Idiots like Keith Law need to learn to stop focusing so much energy on what others think about them or others. What, Daniel Murphy's opinion hurts the feelings of gay people? These people should already know to expect a certain level of intolerance, as unfair as that is its to be expected as we all belong to an imperfect species. Not only is there no reason to believe that Daniel Murphy poses a threat to perform any sort of hate-crime because of his belief, there is no indication that he's even doing anything to push his belief on anyone. One man who poses no threat holding a mean opinion is about as worthwhile to get enraged about as someone who doesn't like you because of the way you dress. Of course, for people like Keith Law its all about taking every opportunity to showcase their infallible moral compass. Of the however-billion people on this planet who don't approve of homosexuality on SOME level, Daniel Murphy probably slots in somewhere on the back end of whether or not you should give a s***.

The levels that people will go to to convince themselves that Biggio isn't good is getting pretty ridiculous. High power, high walk, high strikeout guys absolutely work in the MLB. To compare a guy who has historically shown an elite ability to get on base (it was his only plus tool prior to his power surge) to f***ing JP Arencibia is mind blowingly stupid analysis. Arencibia had a career 4.8% walk rate in the minors, worse than Kevin Pillar: the guy who can go on month long stretches wherein he doesn't draw a walk.

Hagen Danner up to .324/.457/.432 with a 15-to-21 BB/K rate. Power hasn't really shown up yet but that was his best tool. So cool having a staff that can identify and actually improve position players.
-
Harold Ramirez is repeating AAA for the third straight season. Even if your want to look past the fact that his repeating the level is a major red flag, he simply doesn't have much upside past 4th outfielder.
-
Hagen Danner: .296/.441/.389 (14.7% BB rate, 20.6% K rate) Pretty good for a pitcher.
-
What makes you say that Conine is "treading water" or that its hard to get excited about him? Its legit 1st round tools and he's hitting in Vancouver (129 wRC+, .234 ISO). The strikeouts aren't going to disappear overnight but he hasn't even been that terrible in that regard either with a 26.6% K rate.
