  1. Why single out Tinnish of all people who already has a defined role overseeing everything done internationally? How much influence could he possibly have with all the travel he does? I can't imagine its any more than someone like LaCava who was doing a lot of scouting already under the old regime, or even Dana Brown who's entire job is amateur scouting based. Would Tinnish even be in Toronto come draft day given that the IFA signing period opens just a month later?
  2. Going HS at #12 makes logical sense as there is a very high chance that there will be a run of College guys at the top of the draft which means that most if not all of the College guys actually worthy of being taken 12th overall will be gone before our pick. That means that its likely that you will be picking from one of the high-upside top HS kids, or over-drafting someone from the next tier of College guys who really dont have the upside or pedigree to go that high in the first place. Singer and McClanahan have righted the ship and are finishing strong which makes it unlikely that they will be there at #12; who else could realistically drop? Maybe Swaggerty, but as Kiley said in his chat today: College bats with his tools don't typically fall. Its a no-brainer if you're sitting there looking at great value in a top HS talent versus reaching for someone like Kowar, the kid from Stetson, or who else? Larnach?
  3. George Suprised to see the Blue Jays linked to prep players? Kiley McDaniel Nope, I'm hearing that's almost all they've targeted with their first pick
  4. Not only that, but current looks are more important than a year or two ago, which is why you see HS guys who look worse in recent weeks dropping. Same thing with Seth Beer. India is hitting 400 in the SEC and he plays a solid position, to pretend that 7 guys from that conference alone will go above him is absurd. Who else does the SEC Network have above him? Ryan Rollison who's looked down all season and who got shelled in his last start?
  5. They base their mocks off what actual scouts and front office personnel are saying/doing. When multiple draft guys are reporting him in the Top 10, then it's probably legit. The SEC Network isn't talking to scouts lol.
  6. No offense, but WTF does the SEC Network know about the draft? Even Keith Law has him going 6th in his latest mock, so this is a very real thing. What BA wrote there makes perfect sense: he's a 3B/SS who is mashing in the SEC. Guys like that don't typically make it out of the Top 10.
  7. He's actually been dropping some LOL.
  8. how can she slap??
  9. Where's the guy with the BA subscription? Badler just put out his updated look at last year's IFA signing class.
  10. No, but there are a few on here who can probably tell you what colour Juan Soto's stool was today.
  11. Players like this don't ever really make it to "real prospect" status. They will be written off all the way up until they are contributing as MLB regulars (in the scenario wherein they pan out). Kevin Pillar is an example of this. Biggio is already in AA, so if he's for real then there really isn't time for him to get "prospect recognition" either.
  12. #BuildTheWall?
  13. Dude got #MeToo'd. Oh snap.
  14. Kevin Smith: 3 for 3, 2 2B, SB
  15. He is 21.227 and turns 22 in September, so he isn't "young" for his class at all. I can't remember what his deal was, but if he left HS a year early it was because he was a year older than his peers already (ie: would have been a 19 year old Senior). Its hard to argue that he didn't peak early when all of his hitting stats have declined year to year: his best season was his freshman season, and his worst season is his current season. I'm not sure what he ran, but the consensus seems to be that there is no way he can play OF.
  16. Yes, it is. He's a bad athlete and a 1B/DH only guy. Typical case of a kid who peaked earlier than his peers, which is why he was so good as a freshman. He hasn't really gotten any better since then and the defensive projection has plummeted.
  17. The final draft rankings are always a lot different from preseason ranks. I always thought that ~Top 15 hype on Pompey was generous. He had a pretty bad Cape Cod and he's been much worse this season than he was last season, so yes, his stock is down in the sense that he isn't a 1st rounder right now. Lets not forget that Seth Beer was getting #1 hype as well.
  18. He's a 1B who's about to turn 24 in a few months hitting in Low A bro. No offense, but anyone with any prospect knowledge has seen this player a million times already. He is absurdly old for the level he is at. Don't get too excited because you will be disappointed.
  19. Ben Badler answered my Kevin Smith question!
  20. Nick Schnell is another prep OF; good frame and feel for hitting with present speed and arm strength.
  21. Kevin Smith 2 for 3 with another HR.
  22. Maybe, but his mock doesn't look like its based on anything but pure guesswork. Some of his player/spot matchups look weeks old. I wouldn't put any weight into Mayo's mocks. Callis sure, sure even he seems to be behind now that he's not on BA and doesn't have a bunch of people helping him gather intel.
  23. I don't get the impression that Mayo knows much at all.
