    Good to see an early lead but the terrible ABs threaten to kill every rally. I'm hoping these aren't the only two runs they get tonight tbh.

    What should he have done then? Because the play was executed. Maybe squeeze harder on the glove, but I'm almost positive JD knows what he's doing and the play was just unfortunate. As for errors costing games, the Sox have been victims of walk-off errors at least twice this year. Including one against Toronto. Errors happen. They are impossible to eliminate.

    I think the "decline" is all in the defence. Dude is still a 7-win player this year though. His bat is on par, although a higher walk rate seems to be hiding slight downgrades elsewhere (contact? Which could also be luck). He's just not on pace for 8.5 or whatever. He's nearly twice as valuable as the next best player on the team, according to WAR measures. He also only really did one thing wrong in that inning -- the throw to first. The play at third was just super hard luck. The ball was kicked out of his glove on a clean slide.
