  1. Man I am so pumped. I haven't been this excited for baseball since the game I randomly went to last year, when Edwin walk-off HRed off the Brewers. I was in the centre field balcony. I hugged a complete stranger in excitement. I hope that stranger was one of you guys. He must have been because he smelled good.
  2. I'm going to a meeting for 3, but I'll be taking the bus so hopefully I can at least get a glimpse of the first inning.
  3. I'm more concerned about those oranges. They've gone completely green. Ick!!
  4. Ah. To be fair to him that's like 3 or 4 games per year, if that.
  5. Is there a specific reason you think this?
  6. Awesome. Thanks for the insight.
  7. Here's some more: http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/02/michael-saunders-to-miss-first-half-with-torn-meniscus.html Uh... how long-term? Hopefully this means Michael's knee troubles won't kick until he's retired so it doesn't affect his career. Still, seems like an awfully selfless sacrifice. Can anyone with more sports medical knowledge offer some insight? This seems a little unfair to the guy, unless I really don't understand the implications.
  8. Hope not! I imagine keeping unproven young guns from making a hasty decision is easier keeping Reyes or Bautista from doing it.
  9. Yeah, that's really the only way to handle news anyway.
  10. I'm taking this with a bit of a grain of salt. But, like, I said in the other thread, such a massive decrease in the approximated recovery time has to indicate that we definitely won't have to wait anywhere close to July to see him.
  11. Maybe good news? Taking this cautiously but such a huge decrease in projected time missed has got to have some truth to it, no?
  12. Watch what you say. The sprinklers watch all of us from the shadows...
  13. I'm not, broheim. Look at how many other guys remember the details too. It was a special game that we all remember fondly.
  14. Yup. It was massive. I don't think there's another home opener that I remember this well. Even 2007 or 8's opener vs. KC, which I went to. Just something about that 06 opener. I think it was the fact that it was a big hype season and the fact that they won.
  15. I actually remember this game pretty well. Twins went up early. Bengie Molina hit a monster 3-run home (like, seriously, a real monster). Rios had a good night. 6-3 final. Good game!
  16. Agreed. We're assuming that the bottom 4 will be a black hole, though. It's possible that it could be. I'm concerned too, but my despair is just a bit tempered is all. Add to the fact that Martin isn't just a Jay for this year. Martin is a long-term commitment that will help for the next few years. It was a smart deal, even if it limited payroll for this year.
  17. Agreed. Losing Saunders for 3 months is a significant blow, but our top 5 is so good that it will reasonably compensate for some weakness at the bottom (and before anyone jumps on this statement, I said some weakness - if the bottom 4 is a complete black hole that changes things).
  18. With Pillar having a bigger role if LF (barring any moves), at least this will give Pompey a bigger opportunity.
  19. Holy f***ing s***. A goddamned sprinkler head.
  20. I'm taking made a rap video with Jose Reyes.
  21. If only the mistakes everyone made in their 20s could be that easy to erase. How about you just consider yourself lucky that you weren't that impressionable? The problem now is what's done is done. So unless you have a time machine your simplistic suggestion about stopping is completely useless. Anyway, the drug stuff is just speculation based on his past. There hasn't been any confirmation as far I know. Hopefully it's something more benign.
  22. The gap between being able to just say this and being able to do this is as wide as the Grand Canyon.
  23. To be fair to him, there's no way to predict relapse. If drugs are indeed what are involved here, you gotta remember addiction or previous addiction is a really rough thing to battle.
  24. Advanced statistics. They found Fangraphs bookmarks on his seized laptop.
