    Sometimes teams don't hit a stride until mid-season though. Look at this year. Granted, Price is now a Jay and so is Tulo (and others). But this doesn't account for the success everyone else is having, especially considering Tulo has scuffled on offense. We've seen a reborn Dickey and Hutch (minus last night), Josh and EE beasting, Goins becoming a more than adequate fill-in for Travis, etc. Would the 08 squad have continued to suck with Gibby around? Who knows, but I don't think you can credit a guy for taking the same team, changing next to nothing, for being awesome. The Cito hire seemed like a PR move. It also so-happened that the very talented roster started playing well too. Even then, Cito's pixie dust couldn't save that horrific 2009 year.

    The ump's strike zone is a few inches wider and higher than what pitchtrax says the zone is.

    Is Navarro's CS rate so high that we can call it a marked improvement? He's been on the DL or bench a lot of the year and only occasionally starts. Unless there are serious numbers here, I'd just call this whole season a stop-and-go small sample for him.

    Calling out one's teammates would be volunteering opinions on their play. The reporter asked Donaldson if he sees himself as a role model and he answers that he's been as guilty as other guys for poor play, so no. The context: Ain't nobody calling out s***, guys. He responded as tactfully as he could have to a question that basically said "Do you think you're better than all of your team mates?"

    Do you know what people will say if Rogers Centre is painted a solid blue? They'll say this: "Wow that's ugly" Don't paint the damn building blue. Don't even suggest it or give anyone ideas. It's not your bedroom FFS. Other people have to look at it too.

    I was just thinking the other day that Heyward would probably be a really good pickup. Probably best to not guess with AA though. s*** just happens with no warning when he's on the job.

    If the Rangers pull out a win over San Diego tonight they'll be only 2 games behind the Astros for the West lead. Not sure why the Rangers aren't getting more press. They've been underachieving since the beginning and now they're turning it on (with the help of a Hamels+ acquisition, of course).

    That's still five more than the Jays have won since the inaugural season. Not really a burn on the Yankee franchise, sorry.

    I haven't played a baseball video game since MVP 05, which was just great. I think I played one or two matches of the Show or 2K once, but that's it. Maybe I'll pick up the most recent Show when this season ends. Or whatever version is the most up to date for the PS3.
