  1. I think his ego is far too big to sign with Texas. You think he's someone who will easily forget about getting rocked and how that fan base treated him the past year? I mean sure if they came in and blew everyone away with a large offer but if all things are equal I think he'd swallow his pride and sign here before joining that garbage organization.

  3. I guess $49MM contracts are going to be a thing soon, like the 9.9HP fishing boat to avoid registration lol.
  4. Teams will still lose picks, just not the first round. It depends on if the team signing are above the luxury tax threshold already and if they are it sounds like they have to give up a 2nd & 5th but if they are below it'll just be a 3rd round pick. They haven't said if the comp picks will still occur between 1st & 2nd rounds yet because that will definitely impact whether or not teams give QO to borderline players.
  5. You're referring to Antonio Puesán who tweeted Edwin COULD sign with the Astros for 115MM... He wasn't the original source, that was a dude from some local newspaper editor in the DR that started it. Regardless, I'm not carrying on this conversation.
  6. I didn't close the other one. This one was just not necessary.
  7. I wonder if the comp picks still happen between 1st & 2nd rounds of the draft.
  8. lol! Taking a nobody source, translating it with Google and considering it concrete news is ridiculous... We had a discussion happening in the off season thread and until there's anything official to report lets just leave it there.
  9. There is still nothing credible here, it's still a rumour until an MLB source confirms it. case in point
  10. Dear Shatkins, go sign Pearce & Fowler el-ASAP-O
  11. 5 years of profitable baseball with happy employees.
  12. Well at least this is good news. Maybe the real FA market will open tomorrow and this board can have coherent conversations again.
  13. Batz has been so bad you might be a defensive upgrade with a little off season training.
  14. Well the stations kept calling it cricket for some reason but they don't know what they are talking about. It was good beisbol, I especially liked the new wickets MLB added.
  15. You should probably put less emphasis on your OF experience from a league where players bean you if you hit a homerun or hulk slam you at 3B to that of a professional ball player who has > 1000 games of MLB experience. After a short transition he'd be providing an adequate upgrade over Bautista.
  16. I think if a team concludes there is more value from him on the mound at the MLB level they will protect his arm and not let him hit every day. Regardless, it's a good problem to have no matter what team lands him.

  19. "Kinzer noted the $27.5-million-per-year deal reached Tuesday between the New York Mets and outfielder Yoenis Cespedes, calling it a good comparable." "One of the things we have to look at is the big difference in the tax base between some of the teams that are interested." That all seems to indicate he's likely not signing here imo and by mentioning taxes you have to assume teams like Texas are in on him.
  20. Anyone here go to Pitch Talks? Never been, it's tonight here in Barrie but not sure I can make it. Picking up the wife in Collingwood at 6PM.
  21. Do you want a cookie? I have a stale Blue Jay one you can have.
  22. I knew about Ohlman, didn't know about Grube. Probably because no one cares about 35yr old minor league pitchers lol.
  23. Blue Jays Sign Michael Ohlman, Jarrett Grube To Minors Deals The Blue Jays announced on Monday that they’ve signed catcher Michael Ohlman and right-hander Jarrett Grube to minor league contracts and invited the pair to Major League Spring Training.
  24. I had you on ignore since the summer. Didn't know you still existed, guess we'll see how long that lasts.
