  1. Yeah, that makes sense. Maybe I'm too use to not making the playoffs to think of that lol.
  2. Didn't Strasburg have a hard capped limit and they shut him down entirely? I'm not sure they do with Sanchez considering it seems like they just want him to work less hard the second half being in the BP. Otherwise I don't understand the benefit of being in the BP for 2 months vs just using all his innings/pitches up as a starter which I think yields more value.
  3. Why do so many feel we can't win with Hutchison on the mound? ffs it's not throwing in the towel and with Sanchez / Chavez / Grilli / Osuna / Storen he doesn't need to go 7 innings... This team is built around the line up as it's core and it's heating up right now back to it's old self. If by August 10th this line up can't get us 6 runs a game we'll be in trouble now matter who pitches.
  4. I believe it's because he never pitched more than 133 innings in a season. I don't know the numbers but I believe they try to increase a pitcher's innings by 30-35 per year to build up durability which would put him at a risk by most standards for 200 ip. Stroman on the other hand pitched 165 or so the year before his leg injury.
  5. Travis is the most grateful player ever. Every interview, he's just so happy.
  6. We love you Estrada! Eddy, JD, all you boys. boom boom boom http://i.imgur.com/YW5cUOU.gif
  7. Well there's still hope for Cecil, I think.
  8. useful as in a mop up role. Do you really think he's getting Ortiz out regularly? A soft tossing sinkerball lefty as a loogy who mostly pitches to contact is just not MLB material. At least not for coming in with the tieing run at 3rd and we need the K. I just don't see his role on this team.
  9. and he's only given up runs in 1 of his last 9 outings.
  10. Why they call up non K guys as relievers for MLB blows my mind. Call up the 10K/9 guys, this team doesn't need a sinkerball pitcher in relief.
  11. probably because he's our worst reliever
  12. As if we've watched him for 5 years. But yes I agree lol.
  13. This feels f***ing awesome. I don't care if it's the Phillies, we've had a tough schedule.
  14. Estrada looks like he's working as fast as Buehrle
  15. It goes by overall winning % before head to head record.
  16. From everything I've read (been a while now), but I'm under the impression that kids arms are overused before they are fully developed. It starts back in high school where the demand and play time is extreme, they play all year round now where years ago it was just a handful of games beyond their regular league. It's no surprise that most Tommy john injuries are to younger pitchers, development has changed a lot over the last 20+ years for better and for worse. If you consider the amount of camps, tournaments, etc. that get organized from since having access to the internet alone is big. I think it all compiled in to a bigger problem that perhaps no one has really grasped the extent of it yet.
  17. I was wondering how the hell Bautista had a -0.9 WAR... then I clued in.
  18. Pitch Count / Innings Count / whatever. 40 innings is a big difference however that converts to pitch count
  19. Hyphens are a terrible way to separate names and WAR lol.
